If I doctored a photo for five deer and some turkeys.. what did I do to get 12 deer in the field across the road from me ?????

    yep no deer around here..

saw these 12 and 9 others on the 3 miles ride home from work at 6pm this evening.....

OKAY so the 12 are on posted property.. but they can not always stay there RIGHT ????

CORRECTION.. It is now 6:40pm.. there are 4 at my feeder in the backyard and 6 in my pasture field across the lane...

so if the FLIR went over they would have counted 31 deer with in a square mile....  no deer here !!!!!

Maybe when the game commission sees that obviously dire situation with deer actually existing, they will have pity on the poor habitat in that area and add 3 million doe tags, dmap, and maybe also try out their new "tool" gonacon contraceptive in that field eh? lol.

Lets see--- Four are the ones Doc has been feeding all winter that are his pets, 12 are on the first grass that was uncovered in a hay field on posted property next to him that no one hunts, and 6 in the first grass in his hay field. This is the first of March and it's when every deer heads out of the woods for miles around and finds the first open fields they can. It's been going on for a hundred years this time of year. I've seen fields with over a hundred before HR when I was beaver trapping and the snow first went off. Doc is fortunate to have a posted deer factory feeding him however. No problem killing that buck next year aye Doc.

No bucks for me if I hunt my usual spots (which I will), as I have explained to you a hundred times...

and that still leaves 9 in another field that is open to the public for hunting...

and my 4 pets plus 6 more still equals 10 deer on my property that came off on SGL#54....

still adds up to over 31 in a square mile no matter how you cut it....

I wonder how many are out there now (dark)  if I spotlighted those same fields ?????  50 -60 ????

That's like the PGC doing a pellet count in a standing cornfield after snowmelt and claiming there were 31DPSM in the whole game lands. Still, it's nice to see you still have a few around after the winter. Some places in the state may be hurting this year.

Has anyone EVER had a March when whatever deer there were DIDN'T flock to the first hay fields that opened up?

that's the only what he can defend his statement.  he uses made up facts to support made up facts.  and 2 negative make a positive so it has to be true

well the guys who spotlight the four neighboring farm fields on Game School Road always see between 20 and 30 in each field.. two of the fields are RED TAGS and open for the asking.... and the owner is still complaining about crop damage... he runs a dairy farm... his problem is he has mostly fields...  where the woods start is game lands so the red tag is no good for hunting in the woods.. and smart deer are not in the fields during the daylight.... so he gets few hunters...

keep in mind this is the same farm that borders the parking lot that I talk about that use to be full at 5 am and parking on the road starts... and now has maybe 5 or 6 trucks in it on opening day and they are gone by afternoon... no hunters...  means no deer moving and less sightings..

as for dpsm... my estimate based on seeing deer and  talking with others.. we probably still have over 20 per square mile around the farm areas... maybe 10 when you get away from the farms and deeper into the wooded areas of SGL#54.... but I do not hunt there so would not know...  but 10 is probably about right ???

    SGL #54 equals = 23,481 acres

Dude, I know you well enough to say that if there were three deer in the entire county, you would see two of them. You are like a deer and fish magnet.

And those 2 deer would be in the 165" class.

about half what we used to have.. I can remember in the 80s not being able to count all the deer in those 4 fields.... and it was nothing to see over 30 deer on opening day... but maybe 2 in 10 were bucks and they were small and scrubs...

but we also had BAD BAD BAD winter kills because we had so many running around with nothiong to eat in the woods once the fields got snow and ice covered... .. I always found dead (starved) deer along the trout stream in the spring behind my place... I remember finding two dead beautiful 8 pointers one year laying side by side in the stream ... and one other year 6 deer (no antlers) laying on a power line right of way...
