We am planning on being there.  It has been a tradition for Jeff and I to
go to the pancake breakfast, the fly shop and watch the stocking.
We usually don't fish that day.  But the weather looks favorable, so we
are taking our gear.  This event has been our start of regular trout season
for many years.  But we will still enjoy chasin' Steelhead for a month or more.

The stream conditions were perfect.  I did not fish due to illness, but many of the anglers were catching fish.
The weather conditions were perfect too, the best weather in all the years I can recall while at this event.

I never made it till 2 but fished for 3 hrs. and landed 12 and missed a bunch. All were average size
but did see a golden caught when I was in the fly shop. The guy that owns the shop ran out to tell
the lady that caught it to handle it better and get it back in the water. She gilled it and kept it out for awhile.
Really doubt that fish will live. It was a great day to get out but missed the pancakes. Darn.

I missed her catching the golden.  So glad that Bob keeps watch on the water and the fish.
When I can, I do my best not to use a net and release the fish from barbless hooks while still in
the water.  Granted, sometimes situations come up and I have to use a net or take the fish
out of the water completely.  I know, they are stockers.  But if released properly, can give
enjoyment to other anglers.  Maybe she is inexperienced in releasing trout.

I was there yesterday, and saw the lady catch the golden trout. I was standing by the display in back of the shop. We had to be in close proximity to one another. I took some pictures of her while she had the trout on, as well as a few others. It was a nice fish, but I also think she gilled it. I heard she had another nice one on  before that and took a long time to get it released.  I only fished a short time. Left my vest home. Had to buy a box of micro shot. Did have some tippet along and some flies. I fished to the left upstream of the shop. Very slippery. I think somebody waxed the bottom of my waders over the winter. No fish hooked. Plan on a return visit. Appeard that most of the fish that I saw caught were dredged up from the bottom. Talked to one fellow who told me he caught one on a white bugger and one on a PT nymph. Parking was hard to come by when I arrived about 11:25 AM. Pancake and sausage was well worth the 5 bucks. Thanks to my friend who treated me to the meal. Hot coffee hit the spot. First time I ever attended the event. Very nice friendly well behaved crowd.

Ya we were close. I was checking out and heard the guy by the deck door say about the golden. I caught all mine ,cept one on egg, on a green caddis no.14. All down on bottom. Missed a few on a bead head white bugger #12. One broke me off.

Is Bob stocking? He usually puts some hogs in.
The Sharon Herald had a pix of the canoe with the barrel attached for float stocking.
I saw them do that last year. Good idea.

The fly shop always stocks the "lunkers", the following week. Stop in sarurday, buy a raffle ticket, and give him some business if you need anything.

Drove over today. Creek is high and muddy. If it rains like they say for tomorrow, the creek will be blown out.

I don't fish there that often, any chance even if it rains, it'll fish by Tuesday afternoon?  Gotta go through there after work in Clarion County.

Maybe Tuesday if the rain really misses us, but doubtful.  With all the farmland that drains into neshannock from above the shop area, it usually takes a little longer to get back into "fishing shape".

D-nymph, check the fly shop website in the post above when you are near town on Tues.  Bob usually updates the stream condition when he arrives to the shop in the morning.  Hope this helps.

The trout stocking for this weekend, March 13th has been canceled.
This is due to the high water.  The stocking has been re-scheduled for
    Sunday, March 21st. at 1:00 P.M.
I thought I would inform anglers here and hope to save you a trip.  The raffle
will be during the stocking on the 21st.

Just thought i would chime in , Bob did stock the lunkers this saturday along with a truck of browns from TU . Myself and a budy floated one of the canoes and there are definatly some nice fish to be had . Stop in and give bob the old thumbs up and maybe pick something up , always nice to support the local guys , especialy the behind the scenes work he does to make it a more enjoyable place for all.

Good to hear.  I may be heading up later this week, it all depends on the flow reports.  I really appreciate the message and will let Bob know how much we appreciate all his hard work.
