Usually by this time of year I have between 35-70 coming into my feeders and am watching the early phases of strutting. So far this year I may as well be living in the middle of the city. Nothing, nada, either they found something better or they have been table fare for the predators. I can't even find any tracks in my hikes. I need to see some before getting too excited. Ah well, spring is coming and new areas to explore.

Been watching 4 long beards all winter right out my back door..
They've been hitting the neighbors corn field and manure spreading...

There were 23 in my yard this morning. Two were strutting right under my birdfeeder, and another on my driveway. Interestingly, there were at least three longbeards that were bigger than the strutters, and they just milled about feeding.

There was a lull in appearances during the big snow, but I can count on seeing some birds in my yard every day this time of year.

Saw another 3 (there were probably more) just south of The Vowinckel Hotel in a field to the left

Finally had some show up at the feeder. 14 hens, 1 bearded hen and one long beard. They look real healthy so must be someone else feeding them in the area. This is the latest in the year it's ever been for them to show up.
Now I can start to get excited.

They've really been coming out of the woodwork around here in the last couple weeks.

I've seen a flock of over 40 out my back door, a flock of 25-30 on the way to work & a smaller flock of 12-15 once I got there.

Tons of turkeys, the hills will be thunderin' gobbles soon.
I heard last years first gobbles during the snow we had 1st week of March.
Double gobbles in a white out, gotta love it!

While I have been out plowing roads this last week or two I seen alot of turkeys. Seen three gobblers with 10 inch beards together. Seen about a dozen together they all had about 6 to 7 inch beards. Also seen one feild with about 80 to 90 birds in it. As well as some others I couldn't make out what they were.

If that actually worked, I could make about five gallons of it!

Ken, I think what you are seeing as a "rope" is caused by the hen behind him. There is one on his left.

This group had 22 hens and 7 long beards that joined them last weekend.
