For those of you who use yarn on a hook for salmon...

Do you scent it with anything? If so - what do you do- let it sit in the scent in a jar like salmon eggs or apply it while on the river.

Years ago I use to use Anise(licorice),it seemed to help but not enough to really get excited about.
This year nothing will help more than 5 inches of rain over a three day period!

My answer may not be what you want. I think you may mean an attractor?
Anyhow I think it's important to cover Human scent on all sub-surface fishing. To do this I take some moss, weeds or whatever growing in the water I'm fishing and rub it in. It covers our scent while making the "lure" smell like it belongs there. I could be wrong, but it's one of those quirky things I do.

    Salmo:

I used to collect the weeds along the bank and dry them in the sun.  Then if I didn't catch anything I would smoke them in the afternoon and didn't care too much the rest of the day!  Hope the fishing has improved on the mighty Trickle River.
