Odd catch in Misery Bay

This afternoon I was fishing in about 11fow and I got a lite bite on a minnow, I set the hook and the fish took off. It took some time to get it to the hole as I was using 2 lb. test. After about 10 minutes I pulled up a bowfin of approximately 25-30 inches. It was definately a bowfin and not a bourbot. (I really wish it was a bourbot and double checked.)

Anyone else catch any weird stuff through the ice?w_w.

If it has fins and gills, I'm there.

Once, when I was a kid around 10 years old or so, I caught a hellbender through the ice. Pretty creepy critter, but a cool catch.

wow, you guys are blogging archeologists. You think something is dead and gone, but you guys find a way to dig it back up and give it life again. lol

"A Homewood man led police on an hourlong car chase that ended with a crash injuring three officers.

"The car was driving itself," Wright said. "The car has a GPS. It's a Lincoln Navigator. They drive themselves. I wasn't running nowhere."

Took a few kids down the river a little before X-mas and they caught 4 in about a half hour. They never saw one before so they thought it was pretty cool !

It is a salamander , the 3rd largest species in the world . Hellbenders can get up to 2' . Hellbenders typically live in pristine waters , usually cold mountain streams , so whatever river it was caught is a testament to the waters' quality .
