after draining np they relocated as many fish as possible to lake marshall...i imagine this summer marshall is going to be absolutley jam packed with familys and newbies trying to get thier fish on haha. Does anyone know if after dredging the fish comm is planning on bringing back any new species of fish?!?! With the lake being drastically deeper and cleaner i would imagine trying to populate the lake with walleye as well as tiger musky again would be much more successful. Caught my first musky at np (tiger musky only about 20 inches) years ago. I love np and i grew up fishing that lake my whole life, but bluegill, the occasional crappie and dink largemouth just dont cut it for me anymore. Only time i go out there nowadays is to catch gills for flathead fishing hehe.

monday 2/28/2011 after thunderstorms this morning drove by north park. it is full again. dredging equipment sitting on side of lake. I guess that they are trying to hold back some flood waters from downstream. marshall starting to open up. looks like some open water near north shore and around island. but tonight to be in 20's so may freeze over again.

If you trust the Corp. of Engineers, the project is slated to be completed by May 2011. Have not seen any recent updates.

Work is moving on again despite the recent heavy rains. It stopped for almost 2 weeks but they have been going strong all winter and allowed for a little down time in their schedule.

More rain and the work looks to be delayed but I wouldn't be discouraged.

Wonder what they'll do with all that fill once it dries out (you know, in about 30 years). BTW, have you been to Pine Crick at all?

There is probably enough silt to run off in the creek for many years to come. I haven't fished it yet. I saw 3 guys down there the other day when I drove by. Since I work right on the creek I get to see the murk daily. Gotta love it. I will be hitting up Deer after work today. Should be down there by 415. If your around I'll be down there somewhere.

the area they're filling with silt and all the other acherage bought at the same time will be developed into North Park lands. The silt in the stream now is from the high water levels in the lake and oth er run off as I am failry sure Marshall lake and that whole side of the system is muddy right now. It was as of Tuesday. This is likely not caused by the area at the flea market because things would be continually silty through the winter and fall especially when it rains but this has not been the case since they added a tarp like material to the path the water travels through the lake when the lake is not flooded. Have faith, you won't have to wait forever to fish North Park Lake again. They probably won't stock it immediately and instead will wait for the ecosystem to restablish first. There is a lake in Beaver county that was drained and is now full but the PFBC is waiting for th esame reason to stock it. Hopefully the 3 you saw there were not fishing or if they were it was the DHALO section as the rest of the stream has been closed since March 1.

Yes, they were fishing the DHALO section. I have been fishing it for years. I work on the stream and have noticed all fall and winter the constant silt coming down the stream. There is so much that has settled before they supposedly fixed the problem that every small rain event we get causes it to drain down the creek.

Would be great to see walleye and tiger musky in the lake again. Last tome they were there in response to stunted panfish but rarely showed up on lake surveys and the PFBC felt there were no fishable populations of either in the lake so the stocking stopped in 2003(?). I worked at Wildwood Sportsmans shop and kept up to date with printed biologist reports on the lake.

I agree!!! I posted a ehile back on this thread expressing my hopes on restocking walleye and tiger populations. I was lucky enough to catch one tiger musky there years ago, although small, it was a very memoravle catch for that lake. Ive fished it since i could walk and still love it to death. I hope they bring it back better than ever

Missed a tiger in the lake with a Doc surface lure back in 2004. That hurt. Never saw another in the lake after that. Used to be some in the spillway till they redid it in 2008.

Drove through North Park this afternoon, not as deep as i thought they would make it. It was cool to see that they are making artificial habitats though. Gonna be one heck of a cast to get to some of them.

Roughly hoe many fish habitat structures did they put in? I live 10 minutes from there but am never out that way. I can only imagine how much those fish will hold to those structures once they restock. A guy yeaaaars ago at te bait shop showed me an awesome little setup for fishing jigs from shore. Gets them way out there too. I cant wait till its back on its feet!

Quite a few, if i had to guess i would say 15-20 different "corrals". Bascially 4x4x8' posts driven into the muck in a circular formation. They seem to have favored the fishable side of the shore too, which is nice. I did not see much change near the boathouse, i wonder if they are headed up that way?
