if there is, it's probably just a skim. i'm getting a little antsy myself.

the early bird may get the worm, but the second mouse gets the cheese.

Fished Wyerough cove today. 4" of good clear ice with 2-4" of snow on top. Temperature never got above 16* all day. Caught a few fish. Lou

While on subject of Glendale, was wondering any place close to lake selling fatheads/shiners can probably get at Millers or Ebensburg fishing and hunting but was just curious if any place had them close hate to drive any more than have to on this roads, long for the days when Mook/Shirleys was open in Beaver Valley he'd open at 4am to sell you some maggies, what I should probably do is refill bait tank after moving move it from garage to basement (fraid it might freeze) and buy them bulk at Millers.

Bronzeback, Not sure which direction you're coming from but I thought I passed a new baitshop just outside of Patton. Coming from Patton just as you leave town heading down rte 36 toward Altoona. It's (on the left)before you make the little turn-off to the left to go toward Glendale. I just noticed it the last time I was coming home from there but didn't stop to see what they carried or their hours. Also there is a bait shop in Altoona, Lou's Baitshop (no relation to me!)on 8th Ave but not sure what particular street. It's down past the library and Altoona H.S. It's also on the lefthand side of the street. Hope this helps. Lou

Thanks Lou thats the way I go from Carrolltown to Patton if its where I'm thinking that used to be a bait shop in the 70's, hope to run into you on the ice if you see a maroon ranger with  walleye and smallie decals on back that would be my truck I'll be the guy with the small black otter sled.

MOST OF GLENDALE HAS 6 INCHES GOOD ICE WITH 2 INCHES OF WATER COVERED BY 4-5 INCHES OF SNOW. SOME COVES HAVE 6-8 INCHES GOOD ICE WITH THE SAME JUNK ON TOP. THE MAIN MARINA AREA IS NOT SAFE WITH ALMOST 3 INCHES OF GOOD ICE. SOME FRIENDS HAVE DRILLED 2 INCHES IN MAIN CHANNEL IN FRONT OF CAMP GROUND POINT,WHERE MAIN CHANNEL IN FRONT OF FLAG POLE HAS 6 INCHES GOOD ICE. DIRECTLY UNDER THE CAUSEWAY JUST FROZE THE OTHER DAY, 50YDS BEYOND EITHER SIDE OF THE CAUSEWAY BRIDGE HAS BEEN FISHABLE, GUYS HAVE BEEN SET UP THER, NOT SURE HOW THICK IT IS, BUT MID TO BACK OF WYEROUGH HAS BEEN POPULAR SINCE CHRISTMAS EVE.I FISHED THE FLAG POLE AREA EXCLUSIVELY SO FAR WITH EVERYBODY ELSE, LAST WEEK WAS STEADY, LANDED 15 TO 25 PERCH AND CRAPPIE EACH DAY, EVERY ONE CAUGHT FISH SHALLOW AND DEEP, UNTIL SATURDAY AND SUNDAY, HEARED A LOT OF ****IN ABOUT THE "NO BITE" ON THE WEEKEND. FEW GYS DID WELL THEN. MY CREW AND I GOT INTO THE MOST FISH BTWEEN 6P AND 8P SATURDAY EVENING, ALL CRAPPIE.BUT BETWEEN 8 GUYS WE TOTALED ABOUT 20 CRAPPIE AND PERCH FOR SATURDAY.

try the beaver valley marina cove. I used to fish that from shore at night and everynight we would see atleast one large musky go swimming by. I caught a walleye there too.

The only thing better than 1 day of fishing is 2 days of fishing.

had 3 1/2hrs to fish this a.m.(glendale), ice was 5 to 7inches, water was muddy to stained. with the vexilar, needed the gain on 6 to see the bait in 30fow. got one 28inch 6lb northern on a dead rainbow in 8fow, almost got spooled before setting the hook. fat fish! nothing on live trout or shiners. caught 12 keeper crappie 9 to 11inches, in 28 to 46fow, was fishing a shallow flat that lead into a steep drop off. packed up @ 10am.GOOD Morning!
