Greenlick Dam(Jacobs Creek Park)

I fish Greenlick quite a bit, mostly Walleye and Bass. I hear of people catching big Cats and Carp in there. Anyone else fish there?

I think 98% of the carp in that place are less than 15 lbs...

How about the Cats? I know that lake is feast or famine. I usually do real well or not have a hit all day.

Most carp are 3-7 pound with an occasional 10 pounder. A few years back I was fishing for cats/eyes with 5 inch suckers and caught two carp around 15 pound each, but that was rare. Most cats 16 - 20 inch with an occasional bigger one. In the fall of 1997 I caught a 27 pound flathead there and returned it to the lake. With a little luck it may still be swimmin there, haven't heard of anyone catching a "big one" there.

You're right about it being feast or famine. Sometimes it's like the dead sea.

Fish from shore. Caught the cat while fishing for bass with night crawlers on 8# line. Thought I was snagged and was about to break my line when it moved. Fish for eyes mostly in evening, night or early morning(daybreak) with plugs.

You guys seem to do better from shore than I do in a boat. A lot of people call Greenlick the Dead Sea.

my brother caught a nice sized catfish out of there, it was about 2 foot long and pretty fat.  Had some strange colors tho, it kinda looked like a rainbow from the coloring. He caught that on a worm fishing for perch.

I just heard that they were drawing it down about 4' so they could put some structure & cover in it. Lat time they had it down, I called Rick Lorson, the PFC biologist for that area & tried to talk them into doing some dredging of the creek channel under the bridge, but he said that they didn't have funds to do that. May be if we can generate some calls to him they will do it now.  sam

Mt. Man  If you ever fished at Greenlick you would know there is no 15 lb carp in there.

I have fished that place quite a few times and landed one at 15.04  The rest are a bunch of dinks that are not worth my time.

The two 15 pound carp I caught there were caught on creek chubs while fishing for eyes/catfish. Carp will get bait shy after being caught a couple of times on a particular flavor/scent of doughball and may even totally stay away from any doughball. I think that's why I caught those two on chubs. The chubs may even have been dead.

The one with the soccer fields is Bridgeport Dam built for flood control along Jacobs Creek-and it has worked. The other lake often refered to as "Greenlick" is actually called the Jacobs Creek Lake at Jacobs Creek Park.

I hit it early Sunday morning.  Nothing, in fact it barely even showed signs of life.

I tried it again Monday morning.  Pannies & bass cruising all over the shallows.  I couldn't get them to even look at anything I threw out there.  I didn't see anyone else pulling anything in either.

Probably cause it's over fished then i'm guessing or it's just that hard to fish.

I certainly wouldn't drive more than 15 minutes to fish Greenlick.  That's just my opinion.  It's a close option for me, but not a real good option 98% of the time.
