Lead Sinkers Question

What method do you guys use to make dull or tarnish new lead sinkers?
I've soaked them in hard water over time, but is there a quicker method?
Any help always appreciated, thanks.

changes in latitudes, changes in attitudes....nothing remains quite the same

I usually buy shot that has a dull finish on them already, usually dinsmores.

....or you could just keep em in your mouth for 2-3 days like that last poster said.

beerman, Thats a good question? The one thing I have noticed is the older the split shot in my vest the darker the color. So buy for next year throw them in the trunk of the car or whatever. They will darken.

Thanks to all that replied! It seems soaking them in hard water will take forever.
Though, soaking them in hydrogen peroxide seems to work after a few days. I haven't tried
gray shop primer, but that's a thought. Also, I've been holding them in my mouth
the last few days, but it's hard to talk with them inserted, lol!

I just thought there may be something that would instantly dull the finish.
    Thanks for any help!
