I'm just a noob but my last batch of hooks were in 8, 10, 12 and 2x strong, 3x long streamer hooks..

Anywhere from 6 to 14. The trick is fishing the right size in the right water. I tend to tie the vast majority of mine in #8.

    I use 2X heavy, 4X long.

i have used the signature series hooks from mustad they were 2x strong 5 x long
try not to use anything below 4 x long if you do it will look like a wooly worm.
    i tie mine size 8 to 14.ff46

I didn't say these are the ten suggestions

    k3d1d,

This is a good hook. In the smaller sizes (10 to 14), I use the Dai-Riki #700. 1x strong, 4x long.

Sizes 8 & 6 I use Mustad 36890 salmon/steelhead hooks. I like the eye on those hooks, and they're extra strong, have a black finish, and are fairly reasonably priced for that style of hook.

Sizes 4 & 2 are bass-sized buggers (they love black), and I use Mustad 79580/R74 hooks for those.
