Friday 9-7 DSR run
My friend and I had the pleasure of being 2 of 8 fisherman counted that had the entire area of river with a major push of Kings-Cohos and a few browns. Fly fishing egg patterns/estaz flies and spin fishing egg sacs were equally productive.
Fished near the Wall Hole and Flats. Salmon were steadily splashing through the low waters to rest and set up in deeper pools. Around 1:00 P.M. the major push started and at the Flats there were constantly 50 fish in front of us.
Wish I had the camera to film the few we sucessfully landed and returned to River, as well as the many that were circling at our feet on passage. All fish were brightly colored and very line shy . Observed many big Kings with lamprey marks. Including at least three with lampreys still attached. We watched a smaller jack trying to scrape the attached lamprey against a rock.
Called it a day around 2:30 P.M. We were tired and it was getting hot on the river.
This was the closest thing I could call to Fishing in a "petting zoo" in heaven.
