Over loading the rod.

I see post, after post, in a lot of threads about guys overloading the rod. WHY???? I have never seen any sense in this. If you bought a 5 wt and put a 6 wt line on it. Why in the hell didnt you just buy a 6 weight in the first place??? The only conclusion I can come to is. You bought a peice of **** rod that doesnt load the way it is supposed to. Or you need some casting work.
Just looking for reasons why a rod should be over loaded??? Looking forward to your replys...
Thanks in advance.

I overline my 2 WT with a 3 WT line...  The reason   a 2 WT Line is lighter therefore doesn't load my rod at the short distances I am casting......

    what is a 5wt?
    what is a 6wt?

it changes by rod and line manufacturer

put an line within 3 wts + or - on a rod and I will cast it

i like to customize and tweek
the fact that i work on my casting leeds me to adjust my lines

You DO realize that the only difference in "weights" is the difference in the first 30 feet of line. A 5 weight line with only 20 feet out might be the equivalent of a 4 wt line. And if you only have 20 feet of line out most of the time, maybe that 6 wt line, in 20 feet, will weigh just as much as a 5wt at 30, and therefore give your rod the best casting characteristics.

...also, the weight rating on a rod is simply the manufacturer's suggestion of what line it will cast best for most people.

Weight em with lead wraps and fish in the deep runs. The natural helps improve a fish's protective coating.

Or you could buy the correct line weight designed for your fishing needs. There are different head tapers for dry, nymphing, streamers, steelheads, etc.
Also different lines for water/air temps you're fishing.
    Check it out...
