A day of honey-dos equals a day of fishing?  Send flowers?  Send a process server?

Why not take her with you? After she lands her first steel I think she will be hooked.

Or, you could say something like: "Gee, I'm sorry my fishing upsets you. Maybe my next wife will appreciate me more."

Great question!! Been married for 30 years and she pulled that on me for probably the first 5. Then she learned it just didn't work. Now she looks forward to me going and can't wait till I leave!!!

You are lucky you are getting the silent treatment, at least you dont have to hear her mouth anymore. What should you do to get out? Is take the jewels out of her purse and put the keys in the truck and go fishing.

Instead of TELLING her you are going, it might help if you take most of the other advice given here (cleaning the house, cooking dinner, taking her out on dates) and make it a regular part of your life, and then ASK her if it's OK with her if you take a day to go fishing.

Betchya if she's not a total witch, she'll give you the green light 95% of the time. Works for me.

seriously. if my husband all of a sudden started cleaning the house I'd think something far worse than a fishing trip was up his sleeve.
but, I've never given him any **** about doing whatever he wanted to do, even if there was a strip club involved

That's exactly what I did. My wife loves to fish anyway and when she saw the size of the fish (she was use to fishing for the stockies here) she couldn't wait to get started. After she hooked her first she was like a kid in a candy store. Now SHE plans our trips. LOL

I just bought mine a new car I'm good for 4 more years!!!!

There will be days when fishing is better than ones optimistic forecast, others when it is far worse. Either is a gain over just staying home.

let me add that i did take her to erie 1 time and she did enjoy herself but she is now going to nursing school and is too busy studying to go again.i think that the main reason is that i live 2 hrs from erie so i leave my house at 2 am fish all day then come home and go to sleep.i dont see a problem with it because it is only 3 or times a month from oct until mar.but she does.and i also want to add good 1 pghmarty

I am glad my wife does not fish or hunt. She can have her hobbies and I have mine. She never really says anything about fishing or hunting.

I might also add that I did the same thing with tying flies. I let her give it a try and now she ties too. More importantly, she doesn't complain too much about the money I spend on materials.

i don't have a wife, but my girlfriend of 2 years supports me 100% in fishing and alot of the time goes with me. She asks what's wrong with me if I miss a weekend of fishing. She says my pupils are shaped like fish.

Not a dilemma at all man, just trying to be a good husband and dad 24/7/365 and not just when I want to go fishing or hunting. Guess what I'm trying to say is that it doesn't hurt to show love, affection and appreciation for your bride even when there's nothing in it for you. Like I said, I'm good to go about 95% of the time with no disagreement. And I do get to spend PLENTY of time pursuing my hobbies.

I don't know about most guys, but my wife is my best friend, the love of my life, and one of the greatest gifts God has ever blessed me with. I'd never presume to TELL her that I'm going to do something fun for the day after she's worked all week and will be at home taking care of two kids (and one on the way).

If you'd try it, you might find that it's a lot easier to get the green light to go, and to get the green light when you get back

Its the title change to "wife" that makes them hate you for fishing! According to my dad at least, I am not married either

The wife and I celebrated 29 years of marriage on September 19th. Before we got married, she promised that she wouldn't interfere with my fishing, and she hasn't. She has no interest in fishing, but we travel to Presque Isle in the summer, and she'll go along when I fish local sometimes. For our 30th next year, we might do an Alaska trip. Our oldest son lives in Seattle, and we get out there at least once a year. She has been hinting around that I better get the to do list squared away, cause "you'll be going away every week pretty soon" She's right.
