Anybody been up at the powerdam latey?  I'm heading out this weekend, and wondering what the water level / color is like?  Any fish stories?

I fished Keystone Power Dam about 2 weeks ago & the water level was extremely low.  I would have guessed the water level to be 6-8 feet below normal pool.  I caught two smallish bass right before sunset, 1 on a buzzbait & 1 on a shad rap rapala.  I did find a dead walleye washed up on shore that I estimated between 28 and 30 inches long, a very nice fish.   Too bad I didn't catch that one.  The weeds are fairly dense and grown up in most places.  Good luck on your trip out there.

was the island still out of the water? my guess is that place is gonna be retarded low untill after winter. i hate that place when it gets that low because all the shoreline structure is completly out of the water (which is my "fun" fishing). your pretty much forced into drop shotting, C-rigging and pitchin cranks around the weedbeds. not that i don like to do any of those techniques.... i just hate being forced into deeper water fishing..

I usually fish it all summer long as long as the water level is up. Being that I haven't bought a kicker for my new boat I haven't been out personally. But a friend was by and said the water level was up to normal and there were several boats out. Hope this helps and enjoy.  Lou

TransAm. I usually drift with jigs tipped with a part of a crawler for walleyes, and slip bobber with minnows for crappies and perch.   Lou

That's what I am hoping... I've heard it's been low!

PLNoldrick, You hit the nail on the head!!!  Maybe it's my A.D.D acting up, but I loose interest quick when I can't sight cast or fish structure.  Never caught a fish on a crankbait before (except a tiny little musky).  Just don't have the patience to blind cast.  Maybe I'll try to find some dropoffs & make a day of it.

Transam, I've heard alot of folks catching stuff on crankbaits & Crayfish jigs, or senkos fished on bottom, but I only ever have luck on raps or soft jerkbaits.

Oh well, Maybe I'll go check it out anyway...  Or maybe I'll go flyfishing for Carp on the Allegheny - Not sure which - I'll post a report if I go.

    Thanks for responses!

    Dead Sea it is...

Water was really low on Sunday - 5-6 feet low.  Island was exposed, weedbeds are huge now, shallows coves were basically not there anymore - cover is all WAY above the waterline.
We tried fishing droppoffs & weedbeds w/ jigs, crankbaits, swimbaits, jerks, soft plastics, dropshotted, deadsticked, jigged, trolled, hell, I threw everything I had in my box...  Did manage to catch 1 8" LM on the first cast with plastic jerkbait & 1 6" LM on one of my last casts on a wooly bugger on my fly rod - both over weedbeds.

This lake is fished out and very low.  Too much pressure.  I saw fish on sonar hanging by the bottom, just couldn't get them to eat and we tried everything but live bait.
