Stonefly?

Looking for a good stonefly tutorial anyone know where I can find one?

    Vinestbrew - Don't have the time today but I'll try and put one up tomorrow. Look on the tutorial page here for it unless someone else chimes in before me. For now though you can look on that page as there are a few on there now that involve the Hex Nymph.

    depending on what kind of stone fly you wish to tie.. try flytyingforum.com.. they have tons of flies and most have tutorials on how to ite them.. i personally tie mostly woven stones with blk/brown hot wire

    Good questions. It would help a bit if you could be a little more specific. Let us know what your interested in as to what type of stonefly as to dry or nymph like KJ mentioned and we'll try and help. There's loads of different ways of tying them.

    Thanks for the quick replies. I have become stuck in a rut awlays tying the same patterns for steelhead. I need to add some variety, I have seen so many different types and styles. I was looking for a standard nymph for steelhead. I assume that
    I would tie up a variety of tan/brown and black in sizes 10-14 does that seem right?

    yea i use between that size and ill go as big as a 6 in the winter and cloudy water

    another.. estaz stone flies work AMAZING in the winter just fyi... tie some up in blue/red/chart.. and youll have a blast

    Might as well figure on spending $40.00 there. Don't matter what I'm after - the d%#m bill is always close to that for me.
