River trollin' n'at

What are some of the favorite lures to troll around the rivers with.  I'd imagine that just about anything that you'd cast around would work.  Although I've never done good trolling with grubs or sassy shad, but always seem to catch fish casting them?  Anyone ever do crawler harnesses in the rivers?  Anyone ever troll with streamers?  I've heard of people doing well trolling streamers with lead core line.  I'd imagine a weight or dipsy would get them where you want them.  Summer seems to be winding down, which means fishing should be turning up on the local rivers.  Although, many of you seem to have not been phased by the summer.

To you I say, where's the beef???

I'm not the Herb you're looking for...  2 all beef patties, special sauce, lettuce, cheese, pickles, onions, on a sesame seed bun!!!  Can't think of any others right now.

The last time that I did that, my email account turned into a spam fest.  I guess some trolls aren't happy enough, just messing with people on the boards.

Actually Porktown, it probably wasn't a troller on the site doing it.  There are programs out there that scan sites just looking for e-mail addresses to add to spam lists.  They fish the sites and add posted addresses to all the others on the list and then the spammers go at it.

And to answer you original question, I have had better luck casting stuff in the yough in lieu of trolling and that includes an assortment of cranks, stickbaits and harnesses.

In the past, I have used Crawler harnesses on the mon.  Worked pretty well for my brother-in-law and myself. caught a few big cats and a few eyes and even a few smallies.  overall i'd say, that always works.

I've heard the Hot N Tot thing before.  I tried trolling for about 2 hours on Saturday morning no bites.  We had 2 Hot N Tots straight back and an assortment of other crank baits running off of the sides with Dipsy Divers.  Finally decided to net up a few shad.  Got one channel cat, and missed another nice strike.  Slow action, the river was pretty muddy, but should probably be a great color this week.  Hopefully the action is going to pick up.  The shad are perfect bait size right now.

    PM sent.

when the river is high, troll/fish the shoreline. harder to troll because its hard to keep the crap from running down the line onto the lure, but the fish are easier to locate.

I use to troll on my way back to the launch at night, usually along the stadiums and the point.  10fow off the mon warf to the point usually produced some fish. hot n tots and thundersticks.  A guy i work with told me that they troll the backchannel of neville island in august and september and usually catch some big walleye. havent had a chance to try it yet though.
