I agree, didn't reply because I don't understand what you are asking.

Fleece pants breath, while wind pants (nylon) would not be breathable, thus if one sweats they will be dryer with fleece. It's (fleece) also plenty warmer, IMO. I like the type with stirups.

changes in latitudes, changes in attitudes....nothing remains quite the same

I usually wear fleece when it's really cold. BUT! Normally I just wear blue jeans.

+2, though I also add an underlayer of thermals for anytime that I'm wearing a winter jacket up top. Really, though, even in the winter, I'll just have thermals and fleece under breathable waders.

...then again, I only wear one pair of plain white cotton socks on my feet when I go skiing.

If it's cold, fleece with underarmor type longjohn. Really cold,
army surplus arctic long johns.  Wool socks with polypro liner.
Warm, very light long johns, or shorts, depending on water temp.  Or
    just wear the hip boots.

BTW, if you have ARMY Navy suplus store nearby (one in Erie), great place to find cold weather gear.

    remember this

    "cotton kills"

cotton retains no insulating properties when wet
synthetics are the way to go

    "synthetics singe"

synthetics will melt around heat and can possibly melt to skin
cotton is a must around heat and flames
