Power Wrapper Pix

Decided to take some initiative with some stuff I had laying around at work and build myself a motorized wrapper for building rods.  I have 102 bucks in this thing when the cheapest one starts at around 300....kind of off topic but I figured I'd share for those who can appreciate it, really speeds things up!

That is outstanding workmanship!  Will it wrap a six-sided bamboo rod?  Some of the commercial wrappers get slack in them when the points go over the rollers.

I don't think I would risk putting a bamboo rod in there, I'd save that one for the hand wrapper.....

Yeah, I understand!  I bought a power one and it messed up a bamboo rod of mine so it's back to the 1860's for me.

    Cool loomis.
I got a couple old motors that I was thinking about using for something similar.  Using a ceiling fan type of variable speed switch on it.  It won't look as clean as yours when done, but it should work.  I think...

DC or AC motors?  To be honest, the sewing machine with the rheostat worked good for me and it is really cheap.

Check it out and see what you come up with, that guy got a ton of good stuff for sale on that site.

It would probably be more economical then getting rectifiers for variable speed and risking a chance of burning up the motor, but let me know what you come up with.  Also, this guy has the idler wheels for cheap, better than getting your own teflon wheels, o rings, and bearings for making ur own.

    both AC
Both need capacitors ( the bigun already has a start cap. mounted... little one needs a 1-mfd run cap.)
