Do you attach to the fly above, or to the leader...thanks...jim

When I attach a dropper I tie a modified clinch to the hook bend, usually one size smaller than my main tippet.  Usually use an egg as point and nymph as dropper.

I'm very different in my approach to droppers, esp for steelhead.  I use a very small three way swivel and tie the dropper on one arm and the floater on another.  Seems to work for me.  But then my expectations are pretty low.

I do it like Loomis said, tie it to the hook bend. I also do the T-connection. Where you tie everything to the hook eye. It all depends on what flies I am using.

    Indi,

The three way swivel works very well. I like it.

Ive always tied it like Loomis said but I will try it the way anadromous said. I dont use a dropper very often because of the foul hook-ups. If ana's method makes way for less foul hook-ups then I might use a dropper more often.

indsguiz, this sounds interesting. how long is each leader coming off the 2 arms of the 3-way. should the 2 flies be about the same size or could one use say a #8 wooly paired with a #14 single egg? any info would be helpful cause i'm always up for trying something different. thanks
