Straw, you never know. There's early runners in the river sometime. I would go. Nothing like fresh run fish.

Start low, then work your way upstream. Forecast looks good for Sunday weatherwise. Good luck....

I'd say pretty slim but good time to explore water.. If you fish the estuary for pike or LMB you may see some rolling. Any shot at salmon would be coming out of estuary .. You could check the normal runs & holds but keep on the move..

From 9:00 PM today until 9:00 PM Mon, 385 CFS

With the increase in flow, you never know. Might get a pleasent surprise. Getting me itchy too...

By the looks of the radar over the last 24 hours, and you don't have a far drive, I would chance it. I've recorded August runs in worse conditions than this. Fish in the lake are holding in 60' to 140' and with those numbers I have seen them run. Word of caution thou, the water is warm enough to put hugh stress on them if fought to long. Look for the faster deeper runs for these first in fish. . . .maybe I'll see ya there.

Wasn't it about 5 or 6 years ago a run came in August and went belly up from the warm temps? 75* water if I remember right.

Yup they did, saw a pile of them stinkin it up just below staircase then, real shame. But if their clock says go they go. I also see at that time though that the water was only 185. Pineville says as I write this 258. If they are bumping it to 300 something, the o2 levels will be good and the water temp. should drop a couple of degrees. This should keep them from becoming floaters.

Hope the temp does go down if they run. Hate to see them floating before they do their thing.

Million dollar question, when will they run. I remember back in the early 80's, there was a hell of a run for labor day weekend. Fished the fridge hole. EVERYONE have their limits one two three. Off the river by 7:30. It was one of those days to remember. Steady stream of Kings/hoes going past. Haven't hit it early like that since! LOL

There are reports around of a few Salmons & a few Steel in the river- mostly dead though. If you catch them you mind as well eat them because they will surely die.

At this point Labor Day Weekend looks real good. Air temps dropping by the end of next week plus a whitewater release of 750 scheduled for that weekend. In 98 had a last week of August trip that was black with fish and saw only 5 other fishermen. 72 degree water and less with air temps in the low 70s seem to be the starting point. Been keeping track for 10 years now and no matter how much water there is, these numbers always trigger.
