First throw

Okay,  everyone is dealing with the gitters of steelie season being just around the corner.  Just wondering what everone is thinking of tying on first to throw.   I'm going to start with egg sacks "green", then minnows...gulp minnows, sucker spawn 'cream, peach, white,.. crystal meth pink, flo green, egg flys to many dif colors,   jigs  black white moss,  and then trout magnets diffent colors..   After that back and forth some differnt little stuff and go threw the list again.  I can't wait.

I threw last night at Avonia. Big cleos. No expectations and no fish. Caught a beautiful sunset.

I don't always snag fish, but when I do...
    I choose Little Cleos

I'm the best looking smartest snagging poacher alive...

I'll probably go to New York first, and try to spoon feed 'em.

Minnows first. Always works. Then I switch up to drifting eggs or single waxworms. For variety, I switch to the fly rod and swing some pink sucker spawn for a while. My basic recipe for steelhead. When they quit looking at one of them, switch it up. Those three or four things always work for me,. regardless of water conditions, etc.

All will depend on the conditions of that particular moment....which won't be for awhile yet, for me.

Izz be goin' to Michigan August 28.   May have to head to the pere marquette if southwest michigan is flooded or blazin' hot.   I don't know what I'll throw.  Depends.   Hopefully not a lifevest on, or a thermacell.    There should undoubtedly be some fish caught in the erie tribs by then.   Same guys, same places, same flies, same spoons, same jigs, as it is every year.   Think I'll mupere to Erie about Labor day.   Fishy's will be where they always are and conditions will be as it almost always is.  Maybe some flow for labor day for 2009 ?  Not likely.  Here's to green water and cool temps.

My reports and advice are for everyone to enjoy, not just the paying customers.

Depends on where first throw is. If lake- Krocodile spoon, 1/4 oz, silver or green or blue prism sticker. Maybe even a flame orange Mepps #2.

If creek, a select color of flatfish in 1 3/4 inch should do the trick if I find them close to the lake. Or a jig.

Last year believe first one was on a jig with no one else on the creek. It was like I stole something. Went higher up and found fish in quick water, caught them on skein. Nothing like getting close to double digits while others haven't even thought about a trip.

Stonefly in either root beer or; black wiggle/blue flash. I had considered a throw net but it's frowned upon.
