go to the bennezett look out, i think it's winslow hill. keep an eye out and drive slow up the hill. sometimes their may be one along the roadside laying down. make sure you bring bi-nochs. we usualy go up in oct. if the weather's cool you might have a better chance.

i was there last week and saw plenty, even heard 1 bugle.  just drive around and you will see them.  the viewing area is a good place to start but can get crowded on weekends.  follow the signs across the street from benezette country store.  for a more uncrowded chance to see elk, take some side dirt roads off rt 555, 255 or 120.  i always see them off gray hill rd and mt zion rd.  you also see them off huston hill rd and the caladonia hwy and quehanna hwy.

Dont fly down 555. Sometimes they'll be grazing in camp yards right alongside the road.

Anywhere around Sinemahoning is a good place to start, head from there along 120 toward Emporium. You can see them in the fields along 120 in the evenings and mornings. They like to hang out around Sterling Run also. Any where in that area is likely to have one or 2. Check out the camps, backyards, fields, etc. I used to make the drive from Emporium (where I lived) to Jersey Shore (where I worked) every Monday morning and Friday evening. If you want a thrill, come around a corner and have 20 elk standing in the middle of the road in front of you!! Benezette is an almost guaranteed place as well. When you see a bunch of cars stopped in the road, you know you found 'em.

By the way, when you get around the Sinemahoning to Emporium area, watch your speed. There are some low limits, and the staties love to watch that stretch. I think they use the Emporium barraks as a training place, they are always running checks on registrations/licenses/inspections and running radar.

Yeah, and the bad thing is, the roads are usually very light with traffic, so it's easy to get to speeding.

I've seen the elk as far south as Penfield thought that was alittle unusual seeing them off of 255
