I tried it like twice, never caught a fish using it

I know ReelForce uses it a lot and deadfishred has done well with it.
Just not my thing ... but i'm sure to try it again sometime.

I've tried it many of times for smallies with a goby on it. I have never caught a fish on it, but that doesn't say it doesn't work! I've fished in tournaments and watched people hammer them with it. I just may not be doing something right.

Reel Force lives and dies by the dropshot...  To some pretty good effect...

I've used the dropshot a lot of different ways

    1. Heavy drop shot

I use this for bass in heavy cover
6'6" casting rod with 50lb braid, I usally put a 1/2oz sinker on the bottom, and use a #1 or #2 kahle or widegap hook, and wacky rig a senko or straight tailed worm. It stays relatively weedless if you fish it more or less vertical.

    2. light drop shot

I use this in the summer when the water is getting warm and the smallies are not aggressive. I use it with 8lb test on a light spinning rod, usually a #3 split shot for weight and a #4 or #6 widegap hook on there. for plastics usually a 4" straight tailed worm

also, this works great for sight fishing spawning bass on beds - use a white or pink 4" senko for that.

deadfishred, are you refering those drop shot weights or just split shots? i never used those clip dropshot weights but seen them. I suppose the design clips into the mono so if snagged the dropshot weight slips off rather losing the entire rig? regards john

I use removable split shot, i can adjust the distance below the hook or change shot size quickly, and they are cheap.

yes you are right about split shot being cheaper and the old lead ones are easy to adjust too.I'm ging to try that rig I seen on youtube. Bet it would work with live crawfish or worms too thanks for the tip red

Oh yeah, it works great with live bait. When I was young, my dad and I used to fish for perch with a "dropshot" rig consisting of two snelled hooks held perpendicular to the line with bear paws leader connectors, anchored with a 1/4oz bass casting sinker. We would use worms, mealworms, minnows, crayfish, it all worked. I'm guessing this is the rig that "perchinc" was alluding too also.

I got Reel Force confused with another guy named Reel Force that I know...

And it must be THAT GUY who lives and dies by the drop-shotted Zoom fluke...  Ah hmmm...

    LMAO!

A lure drawing the first strike of an early morning, the strong tug on the end of your line, the excitement of a leaping fish... that,s livin large!
