I posted in the wrong place by my fault.  But what do you think so far of what I tied for fall steelhead?  I'm wondering what else you think I should tie up?     having a hell of a time getting pics up???

Dont take this the wrong way tank, but where are all the eggs at. I mean single eggs. Thats what alot of takes are on or atleast as an attractor in a tandem setup. Atleast thats how I would do it.

Great, that was what I needed to know.  This fall will be my second time fishing for steelhead and I want to be WELL prepared!  I like to cover all my bases and I think I'm close to that.  I need more meth patern and I'll come up with some small beadhead nyphs.  Tank thank for the look inside your box,  that was really what I was hoping for.  Great reference for color and size form someone who has done this more than me.

Yea, tank, I'll be stealing that purple and peacock pattern this season no doubt.  Looks nice, I'm a big fan of purple in my nymphs for steelbows.

The best size for that purple location nymph that I found was sz 12-14 I tried it in different colors (black and green) but had no luck with those colors it's something with that purple thats works real well in the tribs hope that patterns works for you.

bubb, nice selection of flies but the picture makes your flies look too big or , your flies are tied too big (personal preference). the sucker spawn and egg flies in particular, may hang in water column too long (in the shortand fast runs) My advice(not that it means anything)would be to experiment and try some smaller flies, but please don't misunderstand me , they look great

flyguy...by "tie them smaller" do you mean a tighter tie on the same hook, or a smaller hook and fly all together? I'm thinking you meant to drop a size or 2, but I just wanted to make sure.

Polish, eggs are about the easiest pattern to tie.  I just put a base of thread down then cut two pieces of foam and tie them in on the sideds.  Tie them in the middle just a couple of times, but tight.  Then pull the sides back and finsh off behind the eye.  Take all four tag ends and pull them up and cut off.  This give you a pretty close egg shape.  You might need to do alittle trimming.  As for being flat on the bottom.  I like to have my eggs high on the hook, this helps with hook sets.  You dont what the egg body getting in the way of the point of the hook.  You can look on YOU TUBE under tying flys for all types of patterns.  Just have fun with it and tie stuff up.  I got stuff in my box NO ONE has!!!  One of a kind flys I made myself!    Now will they catch fish well that will be the fun part to find out.

    oh man!...

Sometimes I feel I am too.

Also, you can try tying the pieces of glo-bug yarn or mcfly foam on top the hook, in the shape of an X, then pull one end of both pieces to each side of the hook instead of up. The yarn will flare back into position as a half-round on each side of the shank rather than 1/2 on top and naked on the bottom. Mine were all Glo-domes too until the owner of my local fly shop showed me that method. Works for me.

I don't tie material on the bottom, but then again I never get glo domes either lol
