We were up there and caught 7 11 inch perch drifting above the causeway. Also caught about 11 8 inches or smaller tossed them back to get bigger. Good Luck.

I've been catching them while trolling for eyes south of the causeway.

Fishing in the spring, it seemed everywhere we went we caught Perch. (on the south end) The shame of it is, they all were around 6 or 7". All thrown back! Hopefully that will mean alot of good perch for the future. Of course if we were of a different "culture" we would have kept them all.

I know what you're saying split shot.  Caught a ton of perch up on the north end this spring while crappie fishing, but most of them actually had some size to them compared to the dink perch I usually catch out of pymy.  Lots of 10" - 12" fish all released to see another day.

Sorry it is OT, but, can someone tell me where near Jamestown are some bait shops on the south end?  I usually launch near Orchard or around the causeway and know the shops there but I have never launched on the South end.  Is there a shop on the south end on the East side of the lake (south of Snodgrass) that sells minnies/shiners and what time do they open?
    Thanks....

There is a bait shop on the west side right outside Jamestown that is usally pretty generous with the bait I think you then could travel north and into the park and cut across the dam to the east side then up to snodgrass.

eyes, richters is on 322 about 1.5 miles west of jamestown, between the state park entrance and the state campgrounds.  as you drive west out of jamestown, it will be on your right.  really nice shop.  i can't think of any others unless you are on the ohio side or near the causeway.  (duck n drake, gateway, poffs).

Thanks guys.  My quick Google shot only came up with Hot Spot which has apparently been closed for 4 yrs now (according to the Comp. shop that currently has the number).  Sounds like he fields a lot of calls like mine!
Any recent reports of eyes, crappies or perch from the south end?  My brother's bachelor weekend is this weekend and we are hitting up Pymy tomorrow AM, rain or shine.  Figured the south end will be a little more protected from the wind, if we do get a storm blow up.  My cousin who will be with us isn't big on trolling so I figured we'd hit the south end structure and drop offs with vertical jigging and pitching to see what we can get into.  Does Richter's sell shiners?  Anyone still have leeches up that way?  Also, are you allowed to launch in the campground on the PA west side if you aren't camping or do I need to go up to the Bay 41 launch?

Don't know if this map has been posted before but, it is about as good as the waterproof map that you can buy of Pymy.  A lot better then some of the other ones I have found online and it prints out pretty nice on 11x17, esp. in color.  Found it while googling misc. things.

jus, there is a launch inside the jamestown marina.  i know they had had some break-in issues at 41 bay in the past.  talked to my buddy who lives on the lake, but he hasn't fished it for a couple of weeks.  dave at richters may be able to give you some more info.

There is also a bait shop at the Jamestown marina even though it's not marked on the map (great map by the way).  They do have minnows and shiners there, I bought them in June when I was there.

I'll be using that map when I go back on 8/22.

Can someone explain the "fish attractor" markings on the map?  Area of man made structure or something?

I used to dock a pontoon boat at Jamestown marina. Their bait shop has always had really healthy minnows.

spools, cribbings, brush, tires, etc. etc. - any structure put in by man to hold fish / give cover.

*edited to agree ~ awesome map gillz, much less cartoonish than the one I had.

Just an FYI, that map I posted seems more accurate than the large waterproof map I bought at Gander several years back.  The contours are tighter and seem to show the structure more accurately.  Didn't catch what we wanted on Friday (after the deluge), just lots of channel cats and tons of undersized perch.  Did get a rock bass, gill and decent crappie but couldn't find the decent sized craps in deeper water on the south end.  The marina launch was nice.  Surprised we didn't get any bass in the areas we were fishing.  Oh well.  We still hung out and had a good time.
