My first natives

Yeah yeah, they're not natives, big deal. Still tons of fun.

First let me say, I'm no trout fisherman. That being said, we went on a weekend camping trip to a nice little campgrounds in the Allegheny Nat'l forest. So, I figured I'd take my ultra light & try the little stream out. Had a great time & taught myself, my boy & a young fella named Garret how to catch some of these little firecrackers. Let me tell ya, it's a good thing these things aren't about 2' long....I wouldn't be wading! They're vicious!

Ok, on to the pics!

My first trout (actually my second if you count a stocked rainbow from my younger years)

Between myself & my fishing buddy Garret we caught around 9-10 in just a couple hours. Pretty good fun. Just thought I'd share.

cool things... heading out tomorrow to a new native stream

"Sure, we can assiduously three-quarter our wets downstream, mend and wait out each fly swing, over and over again, which to my way of thinking, anyway, relegates the angler to the role, not of nemesis as it should be, but of butler."

Yup sure was, about 75*...And you ain't kidding, I was expecting the creek to be cold, but it would actually cramp my legs up BAD after about 10 minutes. Much colder than expected.

And Carphead....don't know what a trout magnet is, but if it's a yellow split tail with a 1/16th oz jighead and a fresh mountain worm, then yes, yes it was.
