How's the river been with the cooler temps lately? I'm thinking I'll have time for a quick wade one morning this weekend. Just curious if it's been picking up?

The last couple times out I've done well on smallmouths. All small, but still catching them drifting crawler with no weight.

I had a few of my minnows die so I put them to good use last evening in the Buena Vista area. I probably could have caught more but my presence at the dinner table was not optional. The two biggest are in the mid 20's

So, what's October normally like? Worth another float early in the month for smallies? I'm guessing it should still be good barring any heavy rains that blow the river out.

71, The way I remember it, you did most of the catching while I did most of the missing...... The livewell is 24" long. As soon as you get your Cherry Juice jar refilled let me know, we'll try it again up river! I have bigger jars if needed? Jay

You guys eat those channels? with all the warnings posted anymore & especially with cats being bottom feeders i myself wouldn't even think of eating cats outta the river. Now i know the yough is a helluva lot cleaner than the mon (it's nearest other major waterway) but still, now i have heard of methods that you can use as far as preparing them to clean them of the toxins even moreso, but i guess it's a issue of "to each it's own". Hell, i don't even keep trout anymore, haven't for years.

DaGman, I’ve been irradiated and contaminated, I’ve been gassed, I’ve been blown up, I’ve been shot, hit by a car and totaled a few. If a few catfish does me in then so be it. My heavy metals base line is way off the chart anyway with working a number of years at First Miss Steel. When they made leaded heats you were spitting #9 shot long afterwards. My neighbors have been eating Yough River fish all their lives and are in their 70’s & 80’s, they seem mostly normal……. They are quite tasty!

PSA for the day.... Never fish under the I 70 bridge when it's raining. Apparently, all the leaves, gravel and trash on the bridge goes right into the drains. Then, once the water pressure builds up enough, they turn into trash cannons, violently spewing bursts of trash down into the river. Ask me how I know. Oh, got skunked to boot.

Just after dark I had something hit a 7" sucker and take off down river like a speeding freight train. There was nothing I could do to stop it, evantually the 8# test gave way...... I hope it comes back when it gets hungry again; I'm upsizing my gear!

Hi everyone. Been a fallower for a while and first time poster. But I have fished much of PA and fish the little J often when I am home from school. I have always been told the yough is a great river for trout fishing. I'm planning on taking a trip up this weekend from morgantown to do some fly fishing for some yough trout. I've done some research and plan to hike the trial by ramcat rd. I guess what I am asking is this a good idea for someone going for the first time? Thanks

I dunked a line after getting home from work today. The best part of the evening was when a little boy and girl {11 - 12ish} visiting neighbors came down to the river to fish, I gave them minnows. The girl hooked a nice bass and squealing like a school girl she landed it. Unfortunately I didn’t have my camera with me.

If anyone is near or on the river this week, an update on conditions would be great after the rains. I see the graph spiked up a bit but not bad. I might try to get out after work Wednesday, weather depending. Also planning one last float for the year on Saturday if the Yough doesn't get blown out this week. If I had to guess right now, I'd say a little higher, slightly stained, but still in decent shape? Can anyone confirm/deny?
