knots

for the first time last year i attempted to use a dropper with disasterous results.if a fish took the bottom fly it would always break off.i am not a knot expert i only use 1 knot (palomar)so i bought a book of fishing knots.too complicated.is there a simple easy to use knot that i can use that will not break.

If your palomar was breaking, a different knot wont help.

    Try, in this order:

-Making sure all knots are tied properly and securely
    -Moistening knots before tightening
    -Using fresh, new line
-Making sure your line can handle the fish and conditions in which its used
-Using high quality hooks, and checking each one for burrs inside the eye

Also be sure to check periodically for line wear.

I dont like dropper and other multifly rigs because I'm wearing them and untangling them as much as i'm fishing them, but knots breaking during dropper fishing is a problem that may soon effect all other types of fishing.

Also, a palomar is going to be tough to tie using a #16 or smaller fly. I use an improved clinch and it works well as long as you take cold's advice and tie it properly.

I don't give a crap if anybody listens to me or not.

Agreed.  It's hard to beat an improved clinch knot

+2 on the improved clinch knot. only one I use. Use cold's advice and no worries.
