Montana on my mind

Just got back from a 10 day trip to Montana.  I went to see a good buddy who moved out there last December.  It was an awesome trip.  Lots of breathtaking scenery.
Welcome to Big Sky Country

Lots of friends in Montana

High peaks in the Rockies

Mountain fauna and flora

The Mighty Missouri River - caught a nice rainbow here....

The Blackfoot river near Lincoln, MT - had to keep an eye open for Griz...

A high mountain lake (6500 ft)

The grayling were hitting in the high mountain lake

A few shots of Yellowstone - a real hot spot

A nice Yellowstone elk

If you ever get the chance to go to Montana and to go to Yellowstone go.  It is well worth the effort.

I will live in Montana. And I will marry a round American woman and raise rabbits, and she will cook them for me. And I will have a pickup truck...or possibly even a "recreational vehicle."

    Nice, Bughawk.

The Blackfoot is my favorite Montana River that I've fished.

Early August, pulled into the put in spot with the raft, 7:00 am, 32 degrees.  By 11:30 am it was 85 degrees.  hee hee.

    Bug,
I haven't been there in 30 years but you can believe where my NEXT vacation will be. I have a friend who lives below Twin Falls Idaho.

I just did some checking and the pronghorn looks to be at least a 12" maybe a 14"; definately a trophy and the Elk, a 6x6, with two splayed #2's is really a trophy. Look at the brow tines on that elk.

I did the same trip last year.  When we were horseback riding in Montana, I felt like Gary Cooper.  Beautiful - Big Sky.  On a float trip on the snake river, in 5 feet of water you could see every pebble on the bottom.  I'd love to go back for a float flyfishing trip - looks like a blast.

    Totally awesome!
I've been to Montana (Kallispel) on business, but never for pleasure! I'd really like to get out there one day!

For my fishing reports, product reviews, stories, and other nonsense...
