Early 2B archery

You can hunt antlerless, archery, starting September 19th in 2B. That's super early, it seems like.

It opened on 15 th last year,it's does only, they just want to keep pounding the does,I HAD a spot in 2B that was a deer meca, now it's a very deer free zone, when the deer are all gone I'll hunt squirrels.

Better have a cooler full of ice and get to work butchering quick! Don't think I want to deal with the bugs and warm temps that time of year. I'll just wait a few weeks until the temps cool and shoot one or two of them in my yard. Now thats good hunting!

No, you just have to cool them as quickly as possible.

Maybe some folks who want to put meat in their freezer want to do it then instead of December when they could be hunting bucks.

Hunting does early makes more sense, as the same doe will eat lots of food between September and December stocking up for winter.

The 2B is about herd reduction and spooking does into areas you cn't hunt while wait for a buck does not help herd reduction.

If the doe hunters are spooking YOUR buck into sanctuary areas, he'll be bigger next year.

Me personally, I really don't like to hunt when it's warm, but to each their own.  I'll kill my 3-5 does in 2B after you can drop 'em and wait for more.w_w.

If it has fins and gills, I'm there.

Seems like the last couple of years, even with the normal season dates, it has been hot in early October.  My '05 and '06 bucks I had to ice down and I got them in the first two weeks of the season.  Shot my '07 buck in Dec. so no worries and didn't see anything I liked last year.  Just make sure you have those large, black plastic liner bags and after you gut the deer out, stop at the nearest convenience store or wally world and buy 80lbs+ of ice.  I just get 4 of the bigger bags (I think they are 22 lbers).  I stuff 2 inside the cavity then put one garbage bag over the front end of the deer and throw in a bag of ice and put one bag over the back end and throw in a bag.  They sat overnight like this until the butcher shop opened up in the AM and there was still plenty of ice left and the meat was cool/cold.  All tasted fine after I got it back from the butchers.  I sprayed down with deep woods Off before I started to gut the deer in the field but that will only keep away the ticks and skeeters.  Black flies and "no see ems" don't get scared off by the Off....You won't see me out in the woods until I can take a crack at the bucks though, no matter what the weather is doing.

in 03 i shot my first buck with a bow it was the 2nd saturday of the season in oct. it was in the 60s in the morning and 70s during the day. i was skinning the deer up myself within an hour of it hiting the ground.  but the time i finished bucthering it (45 min later) i had to loose half the hind quarters due to the flys laying the worms.   early season hunting is fun but you gotta take as lil time as you can to get it in the freezer. even with extreme caution you may still loose alot of meat.  doesnt mean i wont go tho
