Nassau Lake ?

What is known of this place ?

From what i have read it looks like it was poluted pretty bad many years back. I never hear of anybody fishing there either.

I saw a cheap fixer upper for sale on the water there, i assume it has fish in it ? I would just c&r anyway.

Thanks,
BB

Fished it when I was a kid(long time ago)!!! Monster Bluegills!!! GE's dump put PCBs in it!!! Last I knew "NO FISHING"!!!   Brain I found this: http://www.health.state.ny.us/press/releases/2007/2007-05-18_fish_advisory.htm     More:
Nassau Lake West Shore- Fall 2000
(Take Elm Street North, at the intersection of Routes 20 and 203. Bare left at the fork in the road).
Nassau Lake is beautiful. Unfortunately, it is the only Lake in NY that has not recovered from it's pollution. It is considered worse than Love Cannel.

Lots of HUGE bass, some monster monster crappie, and some decent pike.  I have fished only through the ice there. It is heavily weed-choked this time of year.

Hey nice frozen fish Blitz... piggerooski's!
Ya know you guys may be onto something.  I've never fished Nassau because it's well known to be toxic.  I'm sure lots of others stay away too, why wouldn't they with so many great waters to choose from? Hence, large unpressured fish must abound there.  I just C&R bass and pike so whats the difference if they glow a little?
Hmmm is there shore access there?

Uh oh...  I think you Superfund-Fans are onto something too...

That's a pig, no doubt!  I would think the three eyes and double reproductive organs on those "PCB LMB's" might even help tack on at least a pound and a half to the average fish!

For some reason I predict some photos of Bri and Santa cruising around that place this weekend on some little boat or another.  I also predict some pics of several bass over four pounds.  SCUM FROGS UNITE!!!

Brian- one more post and that puts you at 421...

I'm just sayin'...  Without moderation this whole thread could really spiral...

BB, while I can't confirm I believe there is no public access on the lake. Try Kinderhook lake it has a half azzed public access and good bass but we talked about the speeders  & zippers there which are also present on Nassau . With that said there are however plenty of places to roadside and carry to Nassau  lake . You know I'm terrible with directions & routes but I could take you there.  Your rig would be a chore but a crawdad or canoe would be easy.

Sorry man that is all I know about it, I have friends that live close and fish it but I never have...

    Nice fish! great pics

A lure drawing the first strike of an early morning, the strong tug on the end of your line, the excitement of a leaping fish... that,s livin large!
