Shenango Dam Tailwaters for trout in summer?

I was just looking at an article in PA Game & Fish that said that the Shenango Dam Tailwaters are a good place to fish for trout during summer and that these waters are stocked year round. It does indeed get stocked a bunch. It was stocked twice in April, once in May, and is going to be stocked again in October and February. I just went here though to look at the discharge rate and the water temperatures http://waterdata.usgs.gov/nwis/uv?03103500
The water temps lead me to believe that this would NOT be a good place to fish for trout during the summer. Water temps have been in the 69-73 degree range and we haven't really had much in the way of summer heat yet. Does anyone have any luck fishing for trout there during the summer?

This section of water is part of the Early Season program. It can be fished during the whole month of March. I may have to give that a try. Waiting for mid April is a killer.

I never caught many trout, after June, downstream from the dam. But, there is is good chance to catch largemouth bass, smallmouth bass, crappies, catfish, stripers, pike, and maybe a musky. Heck, just be prepared to catch about anything except a steelhead, lol!

changes in latitudes, changes in attitudes....nothing remains quite the same

I caught this fish last night while fishing in from the wall (tailwaters). This is where a lot of the trout go in the summer. It is a 44 inch flathead cat fish that weighed 35 pounds
