Kinzua Dam Outflow

My friend Jason and I fished below Kinzua Dam today.  We didn't have much luck.  I caught a 17 inch Rainbow and that was it.  The guy next to me lost a Rainbow around 19 inches.  We were on the side with the fish hatchery.  I could see some pretty large fish jumping down below the island but I couldn't see what they were.

Anyone else been fishing up there lately?  How has it been for you?

I was fishing on the hatchery side myself late July 5th...

fishing is good! if you know what to target

you guys that fish for walleyes and trout are a little late in the year...(the fishing was better earlier).  I've been consistently catching channel catfish

PS... are you guys still seeing all those fingerling trout?  2-3 weeks ago they were driving me crazy and trashed the post-spawn walleye bite.

Check out my blog update in the link below. I just wrote an article about the Kinzua tailwater. I'm by no means an expert but am learning as best I can as fast I can.

We saw a guy on the other side of the river catching some big fish but he was too far away to see what they were.

Night fishing is the ticket for the larger fish.
