you know something funny. In this months Bowhunter magazine is the whitetail forecast for the United States by state. One criteria was estimated deer population. PA was the ONLY out of 50 states that didn't list one. Pa said "NA"

Doe tags. I must be crazy. I apply every year for 2A. This year they have 60,000 tags available and I still have to put my application in the mail the Saturday before they are due or I feel like I am missing something. I could apply a month from now and get all the tags I want. Physco hunter I am.

Thats cause they have no **** clue. I know one thing, ive seen enough doe's here to know that I could kill one and not effect anything. I took my daughter spotlighting the other night. In 45 minutes we saw 30 deer, not a single one had a point. On a side note, the fawns are still really small. Picking them out shouldnt be a problem.

That is because the biologists that Alt used are so on top of the deer population thing.

Same story for the past 3 years. There aren't any deer when you don't see any in gun, but lots of deer when it's time to send for your doe tag.w_w.
If it has fins and gills, I'm there.

You havent heard me sing that song. I saw a ton of deer last year, and the year before that filled a dmap and a doe tag(both with rifle). They head for the thick stuff when bullets start flying. The area I hunt, all the guys are in the wide open woods... head to the old clearcut boys, its not easy to get in but get yourself a treestand and your in the money!

I'm actually seeing great numbers of doe this year compared to the last two in areas that haven't been hunted hard recently. It doesn't take long for them to rebound.

Jay, It says on the PGC site that the first round tags won't be sent out until the middle of Sept. unless you marked down for the early doe season.

The demand is for tags to burn. I'm serious. There aren't any deer up there. They may very well be put on the extinct list near year. Cougars and gary Alt are to blame.

Oh theres deer in 2g, i just hate the terrain. All the ridges are strait up, all the farm land is posted and that is one section where the forest floor is nothing but jagger bushes and ferns.

I guess, if thats what it is... i see no need to hunt land like that when i can hunt something more forgiving and do just as well.

Yeah....the extinct list. Did you know that Dr. Alt and the cougars are working with the car insurance companies to eliminate the herd? I think I read it in the weekly world news.

It's so sad that it's true. Those darn coyote haulers mixed up a shipment of dogs and cats, and now we've got them thar lions runnin' amok. What's next? Grey wolves? I wouldn't put it past those byerikrats!!! Hey, did you guys know that the stock they print the doe tags on is windproof. They make great campfire starters. 'Cause an un-balanced herd is wut we want, right?!?!?!?! There's not enuff bucks, so we'z gonna burn our doe tags and only shoot... uhm... er... bucks. Yeah, that's right!

Im actually suprised at the amount of tags left. I think I remember last year that most counties never made it to the second round, people out of state didnt get tags. Theres an awful lot left. Maybe people are hanging it up. I mean seriously, for the guy who doesnt do his homework, doesnt take scent prevention seriously... how many years would it take of not seeing deer before they quit. Plus, I think theres not a lot of my generation or younger that hunt. Young people these days are too worried about their girlfriends, going out boozing all night, they arent getting up with a hangover at 4am to hunt. In fact, besides the guys I know from on here that are my age and hunt, I think I can only name about 4 other people that I associate with that hunt. Sad. Ive tried to encourage a lot of my peers to do it, they eaither lack interest or they cant bear the thought of gutting an animal, doesnt stop them from eating mine.

That would be a negative, take a look around... youll see young kids wearing camo, all into hunting with dad till they hit about 14. Then outcomes the 1970's hairdo on boys wearing girls jeans. Girls wearing virtually no clothing at all, dying their hair black and caking on black death i liner. Or to prissy to gut a deer. Not saying all kids are like that. But Id be willing to bet your young hunters taking the most interest in hunting have not reached high school. Thens when it thins out big time. Trust me, I know, Its only been 8 years since I was in highschool. I watched the guys and gals give it up.

I see the same thing, Jeremy. I dont see many youngsters with interest in hunting. It seems like fewer and fewer teenagers stick with it after the first year or two. A good example is my younger cousin. I helped start him out his first 3 years. Hunting with me, he filled both his buck and doe tags the first 2 years, and a doe tag in the third year. He is now 17 or 18, and has absolutley no interest whatsoever. He refuses to go this year, and simply says, " I just dont want to go". He wont point out a specific reason why. In this case, he was very successful in those 3 years, and still somehow lost intersest.
