Stripers On The Side (Sly)

the forum has heated up with the arrival of those silver linesiders. Lets say we up the antae with a little side betting or joshing.
How about this idea ? Starting next friday May -1 through Sunday May-3rd. We have a little Eastern USA internet derby. No $$ involved except maybe some goodies donated to the antae, beer, food or just good old bragging rights ? I picked this date because it will probably be my only real striper adventure of the year and everyone "should" be fishing over good populations by then. Only rule(s) a regular member (we know who you are LOL) of the forum and must be a full photo with head shot and a piece of paper with the date & time (even that can be relaxed). Simple enough ?

My donation : A full case of the winners 21 or over favorite beer ( or equivalent good food prize) ( ok Brian what beer do you like ? )

yah baby lets change it to the herring not caught in a net or the smallest schoolie, , and I will be in the running.

Probably doing the steelie thing this weekend and then chasing trout on the upcoming weekends, Stripers are a weekday habit cause its close, besides I am not a hiney man.

we will be pulling an all nighter starting around 5pm friday night.
Just a thought for a little gathering...

Would anyone want to meet up friday night or sometime during the day Sat ?
Our boat will be docked at the Boat House (shady harbor marina) there is plenty of dock space and a decent Picnic area or restaurant, bar (well we will have the floating capt. morgan)

Could do a friday night dinner or Sat Lunch or eve cookout celebration (for all those Porn Shots)

Looks like I will miss another ENY Board event.  Thats the weekend of my annual Catskills trip.

Being shorebound I would have no shot anyway.  Fished for 3½ hours sunday, came up with two herring and one of em fell off the hook and into the drink when I was removing it. The other poor bastid didnt attract anything on the striper pole. Went back with a big popper after dark for an hour, no surface action.

REEL___ I feel your pain dude, welcome to my fishing world!  LAst year in the big Striper Tournament I threw in the anchor from my friends boat.... and the other end wasn't attached to anything on the boat.  Try to jig for herring from a moving boat at about 10-15 mph- oh yeah you just did.  Another excercise in futility for the old boy.

So who won the bragging rights this past weekend?  Any sweet photos?

I spent Friday night and Satruday with RJ and Loren aboard the "Spoiled Brat" and felt like one aboard that vessel!  I guess I am not used to sitting on boats more comfortable (and bigger) then my living room at home!

As Tuna mentioned, we made a honest effort on Friday night and even trolled a pretty big spread for awhile...  But herring were TOUGH to find down there (compared with the Port and Rensellaer) and after a few hours it all just turned into a microbrewery tasting session.

I think Magic Hat's Not-Quite-Pale-Ale won that contest...  Long Trail Ale placed second...

Saturday was pretty half-assed on our part...  No one to blame but ourselves, really.  But as always, if it ain't fun, you shouldn't be doing it on weekends!!!  As for Stripers...  No dice...  But (for me) it was nice to see a section of the Hudson that wasn't Albany/Troy or the Kinston area for once...  The Schodack Island region sort of had a feel all it's own.  Nice down there!

Hope some of you guys found some nice ones...  Who wins?

While Brian's efforts and successes are impressive- it's tough to argue with Ship's giant numbers...

That dude can get 'em!!!   I like Perch's idea for Kays...  C'mon Ship, you're due for a few free beers and good pizza...  And maybe we can get out on Burden and find a walleye to help sweeten the deal!

What an incredible group of Striper guys on this lil' forum...  IMPRESSIVE is an understatement....

I probably won't make Kay's , but definatly put me down for an IOU to SOF ... i'm a man of my word.

Although me and my boys do pretty **** well, SOF continues to take us all to school on Stripers ! WTG man !!

But today was rough , not one fish

Going for our 1st night trip tomorrow.
