Why I Did Fish The SR Today

the water went down just enough but the landing fish was the challange. I was using 12# tippet all day and boy still very tough. But what a day it was. In all my 28 years of fishing steelhead I have never see it so good with fish. Even a blind man (no disrespect) could catch one, (next year will need a license) but landing those trout in that water was once again absurd. Not bosting numbers but just an idea, I fished solo in the am and landed 6 and lost 4. I met some very cool folks from VT and we hit the jackpot and had over a dozen on and landed ZERO...

so the Porn.. (of sort)
This was the easy part, just to the left is a fallen tree and boy did those fish know how to use it.

If you put heavy pressure on them to keep them out of the trees, look at the hooks (2x strong). Many of these in my box now.

So my only glory shot with help from someone. I did take some on the bank myself but they came out real lousy.

    Nice buck, my man!!!

Jeez- the river looks like it did for most of the Fall run in '07...  HEAVY water!!!

With a hooked/landed ratio like that you may as well been TARPON fishing!!!

I cleaned the pic up a bit. Yea it was sick. They sure felt like tarpon (not that I know) when they hit that heavy water.

It seems now the game is on and once again stripers will take a back seat to my trout addiction

Good times RJ.... sounds like an awesome day.  I think I know that tree. Next time I'll bring the white cane.
