has anyone tried these waders/boots?

looking to drop 150-200 on both new waders and boots for this season, and looking at the cabelas breathables for 99.00...has anyone used these before or currently?

http://www.cabelas.com/cabelas/en/templates/product/standard-item.jsp?_DARGS=/cabelas/en/common/catalog/item-link.jsp_A&_DAV=MainCatcat20166-cat350005_TGP&id=0011541830200a&navCount=4&podId=0011541&parentId=cat350005&masterpathid=&navAction=push&catalogCode=QW&rid=&parentType=index&indexId=cat350005&hasJS=true

also they carry two boots that i'm looking at at cabelas for 50-60, both look pretty good, does anyone have any experience or comments with these?  one is the lightweight model the other is the backcountry...

A final question for anyone using the studded felt soles?  how do you like them on the erie tribs?  i have always used felt and never had any problems.  just wondering if i should swich or stick to felt.  being that most of the tribs are solid once you get in do the studs cause as many problems then they prevent?  thanks for any feedback and any other reccomendations, would like to only spend 150-200 as stated.

I like the Studded felt boots. I feel the studds give me better traction. Had a pair that were just felt and could tell the difference between the two.

got 2 pair of studded for Erie. one w/o felt for snow time and one w/felt in other times (felt packs with snow when walking in it and can be treacherous once you hit the stream).  Dave

You won't have any problems on the tribs with straight felt bottoms.
Studs would give a little better traction when crossing swift current.
I think studded aquastealth is the best boot for Erie if you do a lot of walking.

I tried the Cabelas Dry-Plus breathables and they started leaking in the second season. A buddy has been using his Cabelas for several years, no problem. For me, I moved on to Simms, no regrets.

These are the waders I have, I've owned several of Cabelas breathables and these are the best. A little steep in price though.

Joe, I had the the dry plus and they worked ok, get yourself a good pair of wader liners. A friend has the ultra lite boots and he has had no complaints. I would recommend felt with studs.

You might want to check out Reddington.  I have the Reddington CPS Breathables (http://www.fishusa.com/Redington-CPS-Stockingfoot-Chest-Waders_p.html?i=F9F7908E5B8243F395D90298EB68BDCE) and I absolutely love them.  They might be a little more than your price range, but well worth it.  You may want to take a look at Gander Mountain also.  I just saw they came out with a new style of 4-layer breathable waders for $99.  I had a pair of Gander Mountain waders before my Reddington's and really liked them.

As far as the boots, I'd agree with dano that studded aquastealth is the way to go.  I have Korkers Wetlands with interchangable soles, but come steelhead season the only soles I use are my studded aquastealth.  They offer tremendous traction & are great in the snow & ice.

Just felt for me just put new felt on last year and is holding up well.  Unless your going to walk in alot of swift water the studs make a differance..

I use the Cabelas Premium Dry Plus waders. (the $129.95 tan ones)  I've had pretty good luck with mine.  I'm on my third year of my second pair.  The first lasted five years until a jager sliced a rip in the leg.  At first I had a problem with a leaky foot bed.  Sent a pair back still under warranty and received a new pair plus I got some great advice from one of Cabalas' wader experts.  He told me to be very careful when pulling them off, when wet, not to stretch the neoprene booties because this is often what causes a leak.

For boots I use Simms Guide boots with the Aquasteath sole with studs.  I'll never not have a studded boot in the future.  Someday I'll probably upgrade to a pair of Simms waders, once they start making the gravel guard out of the breathable wader material, not the neoprene they use currently.

i do a lot of walking the last 3 years as opposed to my first 4.  thats my one concern with the studded.  i dont want to be slipping around on the flat bottoms of the creeks.  obviously they hold on everything else but ive heard a few say you can slip around a bit.  thanks for all the input, now if i could just get wifey to pick up the tab for say our oct 11th anniversary (ill need them a bit earlier of course)

has anyone noticed how cabelas wading boots fit?  last pair of wader boots i sized 1 size up to a 12 and it was fine, but really too big even with the neoprene foot and heavy socks.  most of you size up or stick with what you normally wear for good wader boots?

If someone said they slipped with studded shoes, I'd bet money that they were using the chota's with screws, not studs.  That's the only shoe I ever had problems with, the screw heads will round off and once they do that they do slip a little.

I bought a cheap pair of shoes last year because I left my studded shoes at home and couldn't find a pair of studded shoes that fit. They are the last pair of shoes I'll ever buy without studs in them.

I've had hodgeman's,ll beans,  and korkers studded sandals.  There was no rock of any type that any of them would slip on.

    Joe,

I think you are comparing lug soles to felt, not studs. A lug sole will grip gravel bottoms, mud, or snow, but are no good on the slate bottoms of the tributaries. Plain felt will give a better grip than lugs in these conditions, but can also slip on moss covered slate. Studded felt gives you the best grip for the Erie tribs.

i have the same waders and they are really nice. they are thicker then most breathables but that added mateial really does add to thier durability.

i do have the ultra light boots your looking at and they are really just that, ultra light. if you do a lot of traveling about they are great. they really help out  with the fatigue factor. they seem to run on the small side

I had to go up 3 sizes on the wading boots from Cabelas.  I think they were the guideboots or something.  I sent the original boots back twice before I got the right size.  I think it depends on who makes them.

How long have you had those waders?  I just got a pair of them.  Only wore them a half dozen times or so.  Just wondering.

this thread should be MOVED to the Conventional Fishing and tackle forum.
It has nothing to do about fishing Erie.

I have only had them about 8 months, but I really like them. The anatomically correct foot doesn't get bunched up like some of the feet in the other waders.
