STRIPERS BABY !!!

I am really getting fired up now !!! I have a lot of time off as usual for Striper season. I really wish they were here year round, that would mean more time and less people out there. I have learned so much over the past 10 years or so. I have pics from the HH park where there is not another person in site  ... it has got to popular over the years :(

Oh well , i'm ready !!!

still a rookie when it comes to stripers, hoping to get a bigger one this year. Caught one small one at the HH park but only got out twice and really wasn't sure what to do.

I have got a couple in the delaware river but still not large.  I actually broke down and bought a couple of heavier spinning rods, still not sure if they are heavy enough. any suggestions on rod setups, hook sizes or favorite lures? The hudson doesn't lend itself well to fly fishing so call me clueless!

Had a blast catching bait on my fly rod though.

Brian---- I am with you!  I've got the big hooks and sinkers and sabiki's out, got a new big game reel and I can't friggin wait.  I have only ever fished the Hudson from Albany north.  I'd cream if I could get down there where the big bubbas roam by Kingston. Maybe I could find a shore spot down there... any ideas?

You told the herring that we had more daylight here in Albany...  And so they arrived...

Looks like I might have to get out there some morning next week.

well it's only the 13 and the water temp did rise a deg. , yea right after that 28 deg temp last night.  Sorry guys I did not go to check the S... creek yesterday or tonight. I have a potential buyer for the Ranger and been getting her ready to go. Basically knowing when a spawning fish is about to run is more about keeping records or logs more then anything else. For those of us who have been at this game long enough can pretty much narrow it down to a few days.
Now I sure hope the Ranger sells, That may just leave more fish for you fellas to catch (LOL). Go get 'em and keep us all up to date. I may get out on the 29' up in shady harbor if I'm invited.  She goes in on sat but I'll be chasing steelies....
