What a nice day

Even though i was working today it was beautiful ... glad it was a Friday !!

There were birds making all sorts of niose this morning, the smell of mud/spring was strong in the air. I saw a GBH today. Was driving with the windows open, got home and it's the first night i can hear the peepers in the swamp. Now it's 7:15 and still light out !!

Looks like we made the turn boys  ... Spring has Sprung !!

Now for some hoops and a few beers.

Thanks Brian for the breath of fresh air. Yes it was a gorgeous day. I registered both boats then went across the Rip Van winkle on an errand. There was 2 boats out there. Crossed the Catskill Creek and there was a group fishing there from shore. After I got home I just had to get on the water. Took the Kayak out so I could get good exercise. There were 2 boats running up the S* creek, I fished a little but again no takers. Not sure what them smallies are waiting for.

Hey by the way, I passed you yesterday by the Deli after we got out of work 5:10pm.( I'm sure I do everyday except fridays). I still have that lead and can meet you after work at the deli in Selkirk.

I hope it is a windless opener and if all the ice is off the drink, i might troll a rowboat otherwise I spoon and live line slipdobs from shore right into the dark.

sounds great Perch. Are you sure they are holdover , they just stocked the poest, and did put in some 2 year olds which many times look like holdover fish. Just seems like when you catch that many they may have been put there. I could be dead wrong and fish is fish,   Really bro it's GREAT that you are actually out there getting some fish unlike me ...
keep it up and lests see some PORN,

here is a native caught on the Saranac, 4/1:

Here is this year's stocking list of "what they are putting where", by county, with some rough dates for planting:

    http://www.dec.ny.gov/outdoor/30465.html

Obviously, a lot depends on weather and a million other things.  For example, I have seen the Lisha Kill get it's planting a month later than planned.  But with conditions thus far, I would think they'd stock quickly.

Jimmy- I saw DEC at the Lisha kill Sunday checking it. I'm not sure if they did anything yet as I haven't seen any signs. I will probably stop on my way home today.

Perch- I hear you with that tree. Glad to hear you had a good day. That 's 1 of my favorite spots. Were you using flies?

    Very cool Perch:
I could not stand it any longer so went out to try the Khook.  I really don't like that stream but it's close. It was quite obvious where and that some places have been stocked with a few fish. Where ever there were groups of cars and folks with buckets there were fish. There were quite a few people out this morning.  The areas I fished don't get stocked and with the water being only 38 degs. the resident trout (if there were any) were not wanting to play. Should have known better but still got my waders wet.

gonna be awhile before any fish are found in this type of water:

Hunter "NO" on the flies but I know if I wasn't so lazy(old) I would have walked all the way home(about 100 yards) and got my fly rod and would have hammered them TOO!!! If you ever need a place to park and fish my drive way is always open!! The only thing I ask is, if you can try and releases most of your catch(around my house) I like the idea of just walking a few hunderd yards and c/r Trout all season long!!  That goes for all my "FISHUSA GANG MEMBERS" (friends)ALSO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! You know "JIMMY"S GANG"!!!!!!!!!! Hay, That sounds Better!!!!!

Looking out this morning is overcast and blustery here. alittle work today, visit and enjoy family later in the day. I just think it it too crappy out with that wind and rain forecast. Might roll upstate for sunday and perhaps stay for monday. Doubt the streams are now fishable if it rained as hard as it did down here. I'm all for catch and release stretches knowing how well the program benefits the true sportsman before stocking season . I am looking forward get into the bk no kill section this next trip.
