Streams look good
If we don't get hammered with rain (or even a snow storm) by April 1st the streams will be in great shape.

I am down in Hackensack, NJ for work for a few days. As I was driving down the Thruway I couldn't help but notice that the Rondout and the Wallkill looked pretty sweet already for mid-March. The runoff looks to be slowing and the Wallkill looked VERY fishable already. Nice! The Normanskill in Albany is still a chocolate mess, but once the snow from the Helderbergs is all finally gone I bet it will clear up quickly. I've heard the upper "Norman" holds nice browns and brookies, but I have never checked it out. But the SMALLIES in that creek are wicked... Got a great new spot I checked out while doing a Site Visit to Capital Hills Golf Course (Albany Muni) that I am anxious to check out in late-May once the Stripers head back south. It is a bit of a walk, but looked PRIME for Smallies and I am sure no one gets back there. Unless there happen to be other golfers who carry a 5wt with them on a golf cart Maybe some of us can back there and slay some fat Smallmouth later this spring. Heck, I can even get us golf carts for the 'commute' to the river if I ask politely! How fun would THAT be, huh?

I am foaming about the streams this year... its a nice smooth thaw, no heavy rains so far, beautiful! I'm hitting the Willowemoc, Beaverkill, Delawares, Esopus and hopefully Neversink soon. Just a big fat troutfest for two days, first weekend in May. You guys check these places out if you havent yet, great fishing.

Did a little pre-opener scouting of the Wynantskill on sunday afternoon... it was slightly murky, not too fast and looked great, so I figured what the hell. Caught two 14"ers within about 15 minutes, then left them alone. Nice to see holdovers and great to see a trout period!

yup, it is going to be nasty especially esopus , heard it is snowing up there now with rain is forecast for remainder of week. I might just start a bathroom tile job and wait for better fishing weather.
