Walleye tripin

I'm scheduled to hit the water on a charter with some pals the end of August for Walleye. Will this be a good time of the year for doing this trip ? I've never done this before for the walleye so am I going to have a good time fishing or drinking beerskies !!!!

Depends.  '05 was great for eyes well into October!  Last year it was significantly slower for 'eyes after the middle of August.  If H2O stays very warm, it should be good into at least mid September.

Never fished walleye at erie, but I'm headin up Tues. and am curious what to try. I like to stay with the shoreline in site and I don't have any real erie gear like riggers or dipseys. Would a three way set up with harness or cranks be worthwhile? Thanks.

Thanks for the input. I'm going up with my ex. (don't ask!)and I would like to keep her amused. Even silvers or sheephead will work for that ! From what I remember (not much usually) from other post, it seems Walnut area would be the one that would keep me closer to shore.. May drift some creek chubs if I get any. Good luck to all.
