I can't remember where the discussion took place, but this article updates the situation:

Thanks for the update, was up there for the first time about 25 years ago and have been back many times since.  I am glad they are continuing it.  (Just cause it's a cool thing, not commenting on impact on water, fish ect - that has already been done!)

That place is great for children to see wild life hope it stays there forever. I remember the first time I saw that was one of the reasons I'm so interested in fishing I was 8 years old.....

I have to agree with beerman0303 and Estimated .  It is a cool thing and despite the hundred or so times I've seen it , I don't tire of it , especially now that I take my children and nieces & nephews . It's great to relive things through their eyes , to re-experience the thrill and wonder.  We all know how important it is to keep  young people interested in the sport of fishing [ as well as hunting ] and with the way the economy is, it may not be such a bad thing to encourage tourism . This isn't meant to start a debate on ecological impact . I'm aware of potential dangers of a negative impact . Sometimes , a balance must be reached .

The way things are going we will probably see more people fishing and hunting as a means of putting something on the table to eat.
