Pflueger Summit/Trion

I've got a $75 Bass Pro gift card and I'm looking to put it towards a new reel for my Legend Ultra 5wt. Obviously they are no Cabelas, thus their selection is pretty limited as far as fly fishing goes. But anyway, I wanted some opinions on the Pflueger Summit and/or Trion if anyone has had any experience with them...

I think you will be happy with either reel. The drags are similar, very smoth and both are well built. The main difference is in the size of the arbor. The summit is a large arbor, while the trion is considered a mid arbor reel. I own the trion 1990 and use it for steelhead on my 10' eight wt and it performs very well for a reel in its price range.

Good luck with your decision, IMHO I think they are both top-notch reels for their price.

i have the trion for my 5 wt.  a very nice, solid reel.  i've never had any problems with it.  the only draw back i could even think of is the weight of the real is more than others in this catagory.  but then it balances my TFO nicely.
