Lamson Guru

Does anyone have any experience with these reels yet?  I am in the market for another 5wt reel and this reel seems to be a great value.  From everything I have been reading they are just a fully machined version of the Konic.  I have never owned a Lamson reel and would appreciate any input.

...come on...you knew someone would have to do something like this.  It certainly looks like a snazzy reel.

Thanks, they really do have some pretty sweet deals there.  This has now brought on another question; does anyone have any experience with the Lamson Velocity?

I just got one of the Velocity's this past season.  Got the "old" model at a good price and I like it alot.  The drag systems they use (same in all their models, i believe) are very smooth.  IMHO you won't regret it if you get one.

Give a man a fish and he will eat for a day. Teach him how to fish and he will sit in a boat and drink beer all day.

I own a velocity and a litespeed. I love fishing both of them. Lamson makes a good product that will last a lifetime. The best place to buy lamson reels from is mrfc.com they have great sale prices on the old velocity.

Watch out on the old velocity if the spool is made from two separate pieces.   They have a history of cracking apart.

    However, lamson make great reels.

My reports and advice are for everyone to enjoy, not just the paying customers.

Well I ordered the Lamson Velocity Hard Alox yesterday.  Thanks for all the input here, I will keep you posted after I get to field test it a few times.

Troutbum--Thanks for the link, that site beat the next cheapest place I could find by over $25
