stealth cam

I snuck a trail (ya right) cam past the wife a few months ago from Ebay.  Finally tested it tonight.  It's the Stealth cam I390.

boooo!!!!!!

Trigger time was 4-6 seconds and burst pics (they are adverstised as 2-3 seconds) .. I counted 10-12.

However, the battery life is suposed to be outstanding.  About 1000 pics from 8 D batteries.  We'll see.

I hear the I230IR is outstanding.

...and no, I won't pay for a cuddeback.  I hunt public lands.  I guess I'll have to deal with it.  Guess I'll have to set it up parallel with the trail.

Nice to see some hunting threads posted.  It has been awhile.

I have one of the older model 35mm stealth cams with a slowwww shutter speed.  I set it up parallel to deer trails with good results.  If I have it over apples or salt I tend to set it up 90 degrees to the trail to try to get some side shots instead of heads and butts.

I can't spend the big money for some of these new trail cams out there.  Some of these things are $800 now.  Admittedly it would be neat to get pictures e mailed to your house from the camera though.

I usually put mine out in early august when you know what the bucks are going to have come fall.  Can't wait to see some of the big guys from last year show up.  Always cool to see the changes one year to the next.

I hunt alot of residential areas and these guys are tough to pin down.  Every one of my  mature buck pics from last year was at night.  I have a new spot I got permission to squeeze into this fall about 1/4 mile from where I hunted last year.  My winter scouted revealed a bedding area I did not know about.  Should be interesting.

Good luck with the cam and show us if you get any good pics.

I figure by now, any buck I get on camera, I'll generally know if I want to hunt him or not.  The antlers should be turning in here real soon.  I took the cam out last night, hoping the rain would let me sneak in close to a bedding area.  Unfortunately the sun came out and I jumped a doe that went on a snorting spree.  All I got is time I guess, assuming the cam doesn't get stolen.

Anyone seeing any horns turning in?

It appears I'm just BARELY going to dodge the gyspy moths this year.  They have matured and will be gone soon.  They have the areas north and south of me pretty much destroyed.  It looks like winter trees in some areas.  Next year though, could be a problem.

I have 3 stealth cams. I cant say how quickly they take a picture compared to other game cams, but I can say my stealth cams take a lot of pictures. So, I guess what I am saying is, they seem to be fast enough.

The stealth cams definatley help me do my scouting. They make it easier for me to find out wether deer are using trails during the daytime or night, and let me know which direction deer are traveling on the trails.

I've got pictures of deer, turkeys, skunks, racoons, people, and probably a few other creatures I forgot to mention.

BTW, I am seeing plenty of antlers already.

I keep a running picture book of all the deer photos for the year. So far I can go back three years. I run mine all year. I would be lost with out it for scouting for archery season.

ok, so I fibbed a bit.  The burst speed is 2 seconds WITHOUT the flash but 10-12 WITH it.

here's one I just pulled off my Wildview.  It's the 2 mp. They just came out with a 4 or 5 mp so the 2 can be had for around $80.00.  I love mine.

Sk, have you tried angling it up- or down-trail to adjust for the shutter speed, or lack-there-of?

A friend of my fathers had one mounted fairly high up a tree.
A bear found it and totally smashed it.
They guessed the bear might of thought it was a hive because of the buzzing sound.
