goerie.com nwpa outdoors field notes posted February 1st. Waterways Conservation Officers were busy with violations during the fall steelhead season on Lake Erie and its tributaries. There were 312 prosecutions -- a 13 percent increase over 2007 -- and 811 warnings issued, a total of 1,123 enforcement actions. The top violations included snagging; possessing foul-hooked fish; fishing without a Lake Erie stamp; nursery water violations; use of illegal fishing devices; Pennsylvania Fish and Boat Commission property violations; fishing without a license; littering; possessing more than the daily creel limit; and fishing without a trout stamp.
