Interesting article from goerie.com nwpa outdoors field notes posted February 1st. Waterways Conservation Officers were busy with violations during the fall steelhead season on Lake Erie and its tributaries. There were 312 prosecutions -- a 13 percent increase over 2007 -- and 811 warnings issued, a total of 1,123 enforcement actions. The top violations included snagging; possessing foul-hooked fish; fishing without a Lake Erie stamp; nursery water violations; use of illegal fishing devices; Pennsylvania Fish and Boat Commission property violations; fishing without a license; littering; possessing more than the daily creel limit; and fishing without a trout stamp.
