Terry was a big loss to me although we share the same problem that did him in --Diabetes!
People don't usually die from Diabetes-they die from complication from Diabetes.
If you have it-don't mess around with thinking you can get away with it-take your readings religiously and watch carefully.  You can pay a big price for a little enjoyment.

I am in one of the worst jobs for this situation and it will surely get me one of these days. Looking forward to being able to retire in 3 to 5 years.

Can we get an update?  I've given some ideas, and read some very good ideas.  There are several people who are DOING things already.  I'm sure I'm not alone in wanting to know what and where I can add my efforts.  Just say the word.

I met with the BOD's of the PSA last night. We talked about a memorial to Terry. We had a few ideas. One stood out, a bench on 20 mile. We all(BOD) felt the streams he fished most often were on the east side. 4 mile was is first but there are problems with doing that there, same with 12.
The bench will have a foot board for putting waders on. We have some materials left over from the last project. I am going to pick up the materails and build it before the seasion starts.
I still have the form for the Walnut Wall.
I feel perhaps the FOT could met this fall and come to a consensus to what should be done. I personally feel we should not dilute a proper memorial to our friend. I know we all want a memorial now but perhaps by winter other possible meaningful partners will come up with a great memorial place, or idea that his family and we will very proud of.Chris

I've done nothing but type.  I'm anxious to DO, but have felt a bit handcuffed, until now.  I'm new to the PSA, and very hopeful that good things can be done in Terry's name.

One question:  about 12 mile, what are some of the issues, if it can be put here?  I'm actually envisioning that very stream as being perfect.  I even got to fish with Terry and his Marine on the banks of that stream.  Is it private?  I guess that makes 2.  I read all pm's even if I don't respond right away, so let me know.

The bench at 20 Mile sounds like a very practical memorial for Terry.
Would that be in the parking area?

The wood for the bench is at Glenn's place.  He has been working doubles and weekends for awhile now, so it has been difficult for him to get it started (heck - he cannot even get out to see his own deer camp because he is so swamped).  For those that live close to him and have plenty of spare time on their hands, how about donating your time to this worthy project!!!!!

PS ~ How is his family doing during their time of mourning?  Have not heard much.  Hope they are doing better each day.

Skip,

Here is the history on the wood:

The planks that Glenn has are leftovers from the Walnut project.  When huddled together pondering the future of the residue, it was suggested that it be used for benches at 20-mile.  One member thought it was a great idea and he offered to build the benches.  However, the wood remained at Glenn's house, and then this summer, it was suggested that it be used for Terry's Memorial.  This time another member offered his help.  To this day, the wood sits at Glenn's house.  Given that Glenn has been gracious enough to keep the wood at his place for nearly a year, I think that someone who is willing to build the benches could come out and get it.  Give a little bit ya know!

Now, you know the rest of the story....

Spoon,

Will there be anyone at the meeting selling raffle tickets for the Terry Raffle?  I know it is a PSA event, but it might be a good place if not to sell the tickets, at least mention it and give folks CR_500's email address or website info.  Just a thought.

Scott just PM'd me and said that ticket sales have been slow and he is considering posting a message that reflects his concern's. Scott is doing a ton of work on this project himself, besides working and living his life.
I think selling tickets at Big Run is a good idea.
I pray to God that these slow ticket sales does not mean that Terry Yocum has been forgotten, so quickly.
I got 5 tickets to sell from Scott. If everyone on this board sold 5 tickets for Terry, we could show his family how much he meant to us.
Please don't forget Terry Yocum!

He's not forgotten.  I don't know about down-state, but he is the topic of conversation constantly up here.  Just this evening his name and memorials in his name were spoken of at least twice in my presence at the PSA meeting. Both before, and after.  I learned of the concern about the slow ticket sales, and I don't think any outside tickets will be sold at the Big Run.  I myself haven't updated my knowledge through the site or by talking to CR500 over the past few weeks, as I'm guilty of being really busy too.  It's  been a busy time for everyone.  It's only going to get busier the closer we get to "the holiday season", of which I know is going to be rough for Terry's family.

I don't think any of us that knew him or read his words are going to be the same this Fall and Winter without Terry's enthusiasm for getting out and enjoying life.  I think of him every time I grab my crossbow.  I'll think of him whenever I visit a certain -mile creek, which I hope to do alot this fall.  We'll get the job done for the man's family.  I think 5 tickets per FOT could be possible.

This is one of my favorite pics he sent me, even though it's not one of his best photos.  There was always another day...
"there she waz, in muzzleloader season she would have been dispatched and skined for vittles, its archery season now and am in no hurry to fill my tag, got a few more weeks of archery yet, and then there is rifle season to come yet and maybe after christmas season"

Terry is greatly missed, but NEVER forgotten.
This down-stater thanks all the northern brothers for everthing being done to remember Terry and his family.
An x-tra piece of raisin pie to everyone who is involved w/ the bench project. Is there any chance it will it be completed by the time of Big Run, so FOT that are coming up will be able to see it and maybe paticipate in it's dedication?

I think one idea thrown out there for a memorial was wood burning his name and birth/death dates - would that make it more permanent than a plaque?

Skip, I spoke to some members about a memorial plaque or stone in Terry's Honor. I have already aquired a piece of Granite that I could lasar with whatever the FOT decide. Contact me if this is something that the group would feel is appropriate. My mail Crawforward@aol.com. I'm 350 miles away but will be up for the PSA function and could bring it then. I admire all the efforts that have been put forth by Scott , the bench builders, and all the FOT to honor T and support his family. I'll do whatever I can to help.

On another note any board member that needs a raffle ticket in SE pa would be glad to meet up. I have a few left and I'm sure Scott can get me more.

Thanks again to all
