That's either the weirdest lie I've ever heard, or the funniest fishing related story.

KISH, thinks there's any fish in that big pool below the Pittsburgh Plunge?

I doubt it, but the last time I was there, we saw a bra in there that you could have used as a drift anchor.  I hope they got it out, as it could have easily destroyed the filter pump.

I worked on the construction of braddock dam for over a year. there were quite a few guys that fished almost every day during lunch break.we hauled in quite a few 10-15 # cats  by just wetting white bread and forming it around a no.4 hook and fish it on bottom. we caught a fair amount of sauger on crankbaits and minnows !

Here is a picture of the demolition of the old dam.  It shows both dams in place.  A very good friend of mine took this.

Used to fish the parking lot area years & years ago, bright & early in the morn, tossing fatheads & shiners on big pencil-bobbers, used to do quite well on hybrid-stripers & smallmouth. Also used to fish up along the rocks as you head up along the bank towards the dam. Got tired of the usual down there tho, "Got a hook, Got a sinker i can bum, Can i get a dollar, and then when they started asking for my beer & cigarettes on a reg basis, that was enuff for me!!! But did have some good trips down there, shall never forget the time my brother caught a alligator gar down there, he didn't know what to think of it, and was scared ****less of it yet to boot, it was funny, lol.

I'd be willing to bet, the bouys are 100 yards down stream of the old dam.  I know the ones at the back channel of Neville are about 1/4 mile down from the dam.  It's a shame.

Also, the boat launch below the dam, isn't in the nicest neigborhood.  I drove around for about an hour just looking for it.  It's a pretty long haul from the South Side launch to the dam if you are looking for the next launch down.

I don't think there is any (easy) access by foot either, so would imagine the lack of pressure makes for a great spot.

Having grown up in the area, it is definately NOT a place where you want to launch and leave your truck/trailer for long. The locals are a royal pain and will not hesitate to help themselves to anything left behind. I've fished the area below the dam--and indeed the bouys are set way below the old dam. While the run from the southside ramp is indeed long, you will come past alot of prime bass hideouts along the way. The area below the dam is filled with alot of snags--so be prepared to lose alot of tackle.
