fishing near kings mountain

i have just purchased a cabin on kings mountain and we were headed up superbowl weekend to do some work...can anybody tell if there is any open water  for fly-fishing on any of the creeks or rivers? also point me in a general direction of where to go i am new to the area.....any info would be greatly appreciated...thanx

    the yough dam tailrace and downstream in confluence ,lower laurel hill creek near confluence along s.r 281. just follow 653 turn right on 281 follow to confluence.good luck

    rvr rat sumed it up but you also might want to try dunbar creek.  I fished it last saturday and was surprised at the amount of open water.

    Laurel Hill is your closest stream with good access at both Barrons Bridge and Kings Bridge ( It's about 2 hills over from Kings Mt. Resort ). I'd imagine from the USGS gage, Laurel is probably frozen over. Your best bet would be to head to the Yough Trailrace or go down river to the Ramcat Access Area. I'd think you would only have to deal with a little bit of edge ice. From Kings Mountain I'd guess it would be a 20 to 25 minute ride. Hope your able to wet a line for awhile, we've all got cabin fever.

    baden, you also have laurel hill statepark, the dhalo at camp conestoga, kooser state park, blue hole creek,  jones mill creek, and shaffer run all within 15 miles of you
