Need a nice Fly reel for good price.

Once again I am asking for the opinions of anyone who reads this. I am looking to complete my trout setup with a great reel. I am looking to spend under $150. Any advice on brands and models. Looking for best value.

I appreciate the help.

again, for trout the reel is only a instrument to hold line. unless you're just going to fish for trophy trout most of the time you will bring trout in with your hands than winding in the reel. i like any of the orvis battenkill's except the large arbor it wouldn't look right on the trout rod. LLbean has some half decent reels also. i'm sure fishusa have good reels in any pricerange. you might want to think of getting an extra spool with your original reel. just in case you decide to get a sink tip or change from a dtf line to a wff. just something to think about.

The BBS is one of the lightest around, in terms of a good quality reel.

Heres another plug for the Battenkill Bar stock.  IMO one of the best reels out there for the under $150 price range.

i also like the orvis bbs.  a very nice reel for a good price

    http://www.orvis.com/store/shop.aspx?dir_id=758&shop_id=1446

also look at the lamson konic reels and the discontinued radius great reels

    http://www.waterworks-lamson.com/closeouts.html

a lot of people like the okuma reels.  i use a sierra for steelhead and have nothing but good to say.  many people like the magnitude for lightnes and the SLV for overall best for your money.

    http://www.okumafishingteam.com/nav1.html

i also have a pflueger trion.  its a good reel but a little heavy, but rugged and can take a hit or 2.  only problem with a heavey reel is when you use it with a short, light rod.

    http://www.pfluegerfishing.com/products/products.php?p=29

out of these, if i were to buy a new reel, which i'm loking into now actually, it between the bbs and radius.

I own an Orvis BMA 3 and I'm pleased with it, though its a little overkill for trout.  I got it so I could use one setup for both trout and steel.

fc, what's okuma's service policy?  And for the guys that have magnitudes, are they really as light as theyre made out to be?

I have the Okuma Integrity and I love it. Just don't dunk it while fishing, the drag doesn't work too good if it gets wet. Other than that it is a great reel and takes a beating.

Okuma integrity is a GREAT real for the money.  Definetly look at the lamson specials going on now.  Just got a radius for under 150$.

I guess it's just the mid arbor and bar stock that you get the free spool but both excellent reels.

I have an Okuma Integrity that I use for steelhead & bass fishing.  It's an awesome reel & I have never had any problems with it at all.  I just picked up a 2nd off ebay last week for a little more than the cost of a replacement spool.  Definitely check them out.

You can have my 15-year-old, cheap, used, battered, bend, ancient, Orvis Rocky Mountain III reel for a song and a dance.
As a 6W, it's brought in and released just about every thing we have worth catching.  The drag is garbage, but it's a fly reel, not a bait-caster.

My primary steelhead reel is a Lamson Radius. Not one problem, and the reason it became my primary reel is when it freezes time to time, it seems to break loose much easier than others with out harming anything.
Wish I woulda bought it at the prices now though.

Battenkill hands down! Right in your price range, and durable. Great reel for the money can handle stockeys all the way up to steelies with no problems whatsoever. Don't be a schmo and let someone talk you into something you dont need!!!! All the advice on this board is very solid. The money you save on the reel you can put into Quality fly line.

If it were'nt for venitian blinds...it would be curtains for all of us!!

I used an okuma sierra for a while for everything and havent had any problem with it, i think i paid around 30 for it. Ive decided that 5 wt was a little light for steelhead so i upgraded to an 8wt and put an okuma helios on it and love it. If you are looking for something cheap and reliable the okuma sierra is the way to go IMO.

Buy a albright gpx or albright bugati. I have been fishing their products for a coulpe years and they are great. They deal direct to the customer on online so their prices are really good.
